I disagree with the statement, "Learning about the past has no value.". I don't think so. I think we can learn much from the past. Even, I think what we can do now are all based on the effort of the past people. I have read somewhere that we are a little man who ride on the shoulder of the giant man.

I admit that I am not so interested in history. I have not studied history so hard while I was a high school student. Becasue the lecture of the history class was only a knowledge of the past things. So I could not have interest to the subject. But I don't think history has no value. We can learn much from our old experiences. For example, recently some terrolists attacked the United States' World Trading Center, and many Americans wish to begin a new war. But I don't want Americans to attack the Affgan. If Americans attack the Affgan, it is clear that they win and destroy many buildings in the country. And it is clear that many citizens in Affganistan are killed. This can be said from our past experiences. We, human beings have made such mistakes again and again. I agree that terrolists who planed to attack the United States must be arrested and must be punnished. But in that process, I don't want many Affgan citizens to die.

I think we, human being, are the creature that makes mistakes. But we are at the same time, the creature that can learn from the failure. Our ancestors have made a lot of mistakes. But if we don't learn about the past and ignore them, we will make the same mistake they have made. We don't live alone in this world. We help each other to live in this world. And also, we can be helped by our ancestors by learning th past. I think memorizing the past events as just a knowledge is not so important. Even more, examining the knowledge in the test is not important. But I think examining the reason of the past events is very important. That is, think of the reasons or causes of the past event and discuss it with our classmates have great meaning.

On top of that, for each person, learning the past has special value. That is, one can learn much from his or her experiences or mistakes. In fact, many people learn from their mistakes and make a lot of progresses. So I think "the past" is the necessary thing for us to improve or develop. I think if the person does a great job than others, he might have learned much from his past experiences. I believe most people will oppose the statement, "the past has no value", and make a lot of progress from the past.
