| 22/M/Japan>>> University Student>>> TOEFL CBT 267 (5.0) I disagree with the statement. I think boys and girls should attend same schools. When I was a high school student, I went to a school which had only boys. I didn't want to go to such a school, but in my community, most private high school were boy schools, so I had no choice but to go to the school. When I first entered my classroom, I was very surprised, because all the students in the classroom were men. I even thought that I went out of the classroom. But as time passed, I began to enjoy my school life. I began to think that even though I can not make any girl friends in the classroom, I can make twice as many as boy friends in the classroom. And we could enjoy playing some sports such as a basketball or a soccer to the full. Sometimes we fighted with each other. If we had girls in our classroom, I think we could not fight as we did. As I have said above, we had only a few private schools which boys and girls can attend. This is because teachers think that if only boys or girls are in the classroom, they might be concentrate on their activities such as studying or playing sprorts. Teachers and parents even doubt that, if their students or children fall in love with other girls or sons, their children might not concentrate on their activities. I can not agree with that, because outside our schools, we have many chances to talk with other girls or boys. In my community, many students go to "Juku" after school. "Juku" is the place where students can learn especially for their preparation for entering universities. In "Juku", we can make friends with various students coming from different schools. So we have many chances to talk with boys and girls. I have said that I think boys and girls should attend same schools. I think so because, for me, boys and girls going to separate schools seems to be unnatural. For me, it seems natural that boys and girls go to same schools, because in our society, men and women work together. So I think it is not necessary to separate boys and girls intentionally by parents' or teachers' authority. Parents believe that they can buy a guarantee that their children don't fall in love with other children by making their children go to a private high school. But they can't. As I have said above, we can go to "Juku" after school, and there, we can fall in love with other girls or boys. And as you know, there are no "Separate Juku" in my country. I think parents' and teachers' anxiety might not be true. I think so because we can concentrate on our jobs even after we fall in love with someone else. I think we can even do our jobs effectively after loving someone. Even when their children are addicted to the "love", and can not concentrate on their jobs, I think that is their own responsibility. And children know that. So I think both boys and girls should attend same schools because it is natural. |
