There are several junior and senior high schools near my hometown.   Some of them are private school and do separate education of gender.  Several people try to make their children to enter these school because of the high rate of going to upper school, such as university.   However, I think even if boys and girls study separately, their academic ability do not boost so much.    In fact, the highest level high school in my prefecture is not private high school whose students are only boys or girls, but high school found by my country.

 

 I have no experience to study with only female classmates, and in my experience, when boys and girls study in the same classroom, they will have more conscious to others and try to care others.  It was almost impossible that students pay attention to other sex students so that they cannot study so hard.  In my junior or senior high school, several students have lovers who are also students of the same school.  But it is no relation to their academic ability:  some of they  were very intelligent and others were poor at studying. 

 

  I think that studying with other sex students can rather stimulate the incentive of every activities such as studying and doing sports activities.  In senior high school, I competed with a male student in world history class.  I studied world history very hard to get the higher score than he.  This effort played a important part in enhancing my academic ability. 

 

 This apply not only to me but to other students.  Many of boys in my classmates practiced skiing before taking lesson in sky school in school trip, privately.  We went to Nagano prefecture and practiced to sky there in school trip. I guess many of boys in my class had good friends with each other and had little experience of skiing.  Therefore they feared to let female classmates see their poor skiing.   Without existence of female classmates, did they try to improve? 

 

Because of these reasons, I believe that there is little merit of separate education depend on gender of students.  Then, as I mentioned, that boys and girls study together have good effect on every students.
