Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Dancing plays an important role in a culture. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. |
267/5.0 I agree with the statement. I think dancing enables us to communicate with people we don't know. I live in Tokushima, in Japan. Tokushima is a very famous city for dancing, named Awa-dance. On the other hand, when I was a high school student, I lived in Tokyo, where we don't have any dancing event. In the following paragraphs, I want to compare the culture of Tokushima with Tokyo. Thus, I want to reveal an important role of dancing in our culture. Awa-dancing is very famous in Japan and it is held annually from August 12 to 15. During that period, many people visit Tokushima and enjoy seeing the dancing. Awa-dance is not an amature one, but a professional one. Many trained teams play dancing as one of traditional art in Japanese culture. Their dancing is rhythmical and amazingly beautiful. Just by watching it, our pressure is getting higher, so it is important not to be excited too much. Otherwise, we are carried in a hospital. While Awa-dancing, we drink too much, sing until our throat sours, laugh loudly with friends or even with unknown people. In daily lives, we don't communicate with so many people. We only communicate with our colleagues, supervisors, friends, or with our neighbors. We don't know most of the people who live in the same city. But while the dancing period, we can communicate each other, even with people who come from differnt regions. On the other hand, in Tokyo, we don't have such an annual event. Tokyo is a too large city and that makes impossible to have such a festival as a city. When we walk in Tokyo, we can see many people are also walking there. For instance, approximately one million people use one big station everyday. But they never know each other, they don't talk each other even when sitting next to next in a train. I think dancing has a power to attract people and to make people excited. We can't laugh or drink with unknown people in our daily lives because we have a common sense and maybe because we are shy. But dancing makes us possible to communicate with each other. Dancing has a power to connect the people in a whole city, though it might be a short period. |
