Some people think goverments should spend as much money as possible exploring outer space (for example, traveling to the Moon and to other planets). Other people disagree and think goverments should spend this money for our basic needs on Earth. Which of these two opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer. 223/5.0 There are a lot of serious problems around the world.
Especially depletion of resource is one of serious problems. Thus we
tend to expect to get more resource at another planet and want to spend more
money to explore outher space. However I do not think it good
idea. There is more serious problems to deal with, poverty of developing
countries.
There are a large number of people suffering from lack
of food and medicine in developing countries. If we can send more food aid
to such countries and teach them adequate technique or know-how of improving
their productive condition with more money, they might not only prolong their
own lives but manage their own industry without other countries'
support. Although it would take much time for them to be an
substantially independent country, it is, I am sure, possible thinking about the
remarkable recovery of my county, Japan after the second world war.
Space exploration cost not a little money but the
possibility to fail for us to get fruitful result is high. Many
space scientists have researched outer space for a long lime, but even
now, when our technology is well developed, they can get feasible way to gain
resource from outer space.
Some of us might think that we should respect the
slight possibility of successful result from space exploration. However,
what I want to emphasize is that our financial capacity for investment has
limitation and people are dying day by day in poor countries. In
short, we have no room to spend money investing uncertain things such as
exploration of outer space as long as poverty is actually solved
Therefore, I cannot agree with the idea that space exploration should be
promoted instead of using money for tackling several problems like
poverty.
