Some people think goverments should spend as much money as possible exploring outer space (for example, traveling to the Moon and to other planets). Other people disagree and think goverments should spend this money for our basic needs on Earth. Which of these two opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer. |
267/5.0 I think it depends on each country. If we live in a wealthy, well developed country, our goverment should explore outer space rather than our basic needs on earth. On the other hand, if our nation is poor, still developing country, our basic needs matter much more than scientific needs. In the following paragraphs, I want to check advantages and disadvantages of both countries. I live in Japan, and Japan is said to be enough developed, though I don't know it is good or not. In countries like Japan, goverments should spend a lot of money for scientific researches such as medicine, physics. As I have stated earlier, I don't know whether such scientific studies could lead to our happiness. But we know from our daily lives that we can get many profits from the efforts of former scientists. For example, we can go to a hospital if we feel bad, we can go easily to a distant country by using an air plane, or we can communicate with people all over the world by using the internet. I don't know exploring outer space could bring us some happiness, but I believe it would result in happiness of human beings itself in the future. On the other hand, I think it is not a good idea if goverments of poor countries spend much money for studies of outer space. Moreover, if they use much money for the purpose of their army force, I disagree with that. In such countries, the goverments should spend much money on more basic needs, especially on a medical care. In conclusion, I think whether goverments spend their money on outer space or for people in their country depends on each country. And as with our country, Japan, I think the goverment should spend much more money for a purpose of scientific development like exploring the universe. |
