Machinery is essential for our modean lives because it enables our work to be done more in a harry and with equal quality.  It is suitable for our high speed of modern lives.   However I prefer to doing something by my hand with smaller number of machines' help.  The reasons are as follows; the attachment to the result of doing by my hand, the high quality of handmade things, and its precious chance that gives us to enhance the ability to do the thing.

 

  Doing something by our hand make us feel reality to do the things, which invite strong attachment to them.   For instance, when I make a teddy bear by my hand without sawing machine, it takes about three times as much as when I use sawing machine.  And, sawing with sting stitch to stitch, I think what length or how direction is the best for the next stitch.  I complete a teddy bear thinking and dealing with each condition of the rest cloth that I  can use to saw.  When making the bear's face, I cannot use sawing machine because the button for the bears' eye is made by vulnerable glass.  Thus, I concentrate on deposing each part of the face pretty.  These concentration and long time to make the thing make me realize that I really make it only by myself.   If I can use sawing machine in every process of making it, on the other hand, I would not feel so.    Thanks to the strong attachment, I come to use it very carefully.  Is it a good thing both for me and for the thing? 

 

   My handmade bear is not satisfactory for others, because of my poor technique of sawing.  However, quality of products make by craftsmen are much higher than that done by well- prepared machine.   I've ever watched hand-made deck brash made by skillful craftmen. Its price was unbelievably high, at cheapest,  twenty thousands yen!  However, it is so durable that we can continue to use it for thirty years.  

 

   Doing things without machine also gives us a good chance to improve our ability connecting to the things.  Therefore, I never rely on electric dictionary however many words I have to look up.   Looking up English words in dictionary is one of the most annoying routine for me, when I am very tired.  However using dictionary make me keep the words in my mind more clearly than using electric dictionary.  Probably annoyance itself caused by the work would be a clue to remember the words. 
 
 In this way, although using machine is much more easier and saves my time, I would like to do everything by my hand as much as possible, because I want to have what I like very much and to improve my ability effectively by practicing to do things by hand.
