I agree with the statement. In my country, some universities begin to take the evaluation system. I'm not sure if this system can work well. But it is true that this evaluation can work as one of the communications between teachers and students. When students evaluate teachers, we must do that carefully. If we evaluate teachers without paying any respection, that might be rude in some cases. I heard that in some universities of the United States, students evaluate their teachers and decide the annual best teacher. I think such a game-like evaluation works well, because both teachers and students can enjoy evaluation like some kinds of sports.

In my university, we evaluate teachers every week. On Friday's afternoon, we must submit a evaluation card to our school. We are asked to do so by our university. I don't know the reason why such a evaluation begins. But it is sure that this can connect teachers and students to some extent.

In most cases, we don't talk with teachers so much. They teach us in a large classroom and we just listen to their lectures. We never ask any questions. This is not because we don't want to study, but because of our culture. Japanese students don't like to ask questions, mainly because our shiness. Teacher evaluation system can work as a part of a teacher-student interaction. Teachers can know how their students feel. But when we do evaluation, we must do it carefully. Some teachers feel uncomfortable to be evaluated by their students.

If we evaluate teachers without any respections, that ertainly makes teachers feel uncomfortable. Teachers are supervisors of students, so it is not usual that students evaluate them. We students should know that we evaluate teachers for our own sake. That is, we should not speak ill of our teachers.

In some universities of the United States, students award their best teachers annually. For me, this seems to be some kinds of sports-like events. If we can have such an annual event, both teachers and students can enjoy it like a game such as a basketball or a soccer.
