<< During my college life, I had experienced of
living both in dormitory and in an apartment. Comparing both merits
from my experience, I would rather live in an apartment. It is because
life in apartment is more suitable for my life style. In this essay, I
will show both merits that dormitory life and apartment-living life give me and
then mention the reason why I would like to choose to live in an apartment.
When I was a freshman and sophomare, I lived in a
private dormitory near my university. From my two- year-dormitory
life, I had made several friends. As you can easily imagine, there are
lots of students in the dormitory and from the beginning of my school life, I
could have a good time with them thanks to the many chance that the dormitory
gave me to be friends with them. Since I made some friends when I came to
the dormitory for the first time, I had hardly to have a hard time to be
forced to spend time alone in a strange town. I could use a room for
myself, and therefore I need not to care about my roommates' privacy.
The second merit that dormitory had was low living expence. Our dormitory supplied us breakfast and dinner. Therefore, we have only to eat lunch at our university's dining room. We need not spend time for cooking which saved us much time. Moreover total cost of living in the dormitory was about seventy thousands yen, although my friends who live at an apartment in Setagaya, Tokyo had to pay about ninety seven thousands yen for only lending her apartment. However such economical dormitory life was not useful
for me because of its severe rules; I used to stay other students' apartment and
dine with them at restaurant because I could not back home within eleven a.m.
when students in dormitory had to go back.
Thanks to my life style, I was forced to leave the
dormitory and live in an apartment. Although I had to do everything by
myself including cooking, cleaning, and sweeping, I enjoyed my independent
life. Free from rules of dormitory is the biggest merit of living in an
apartment. I would have to go to far place from my apartment because of
club activity. Therefore, freedom from the dormitory's limitation of
time of back home was essential for me. At first, cooking, washing, and
sweeping was painful task for me, but I was gradually used to doing and learned
to find pleasure of doing housekeeping. Finding fun of doing housekeeping
is another merit of living in an apartment.
I feel that both of living place gives students different good condition, from my experience. However, dormitory's merit, possibility of living an frugal life was sometimes irrelevant for me. Moreover, I asked for freedom of life that apartment life guaranteed me. Therefore, I would rather live in an apartment. |
