I prefer to live in an apartment in the community. And I live in an apartment near my university now. When I decided to enter my university and chose where to live, I wanted to live in an university dormitory. I thought that because living in an university dormitory is cheaper than living in a private room in a community. For example, if you choose to live in an apartment house in my community, you must pay about 500 dollars per month for only one narrow room. On the other hand, if you choose to live in an university dormitory, you can live in the room for almost free.
When I went to my university housing center, and asked if I can afford to live in a dormitory, they replied that I can. But they added that although I can choose to live in a dormitory house, almost all students don't live in the house. And they recommended me to live in an apartment house near the university. And I obeyed their recommendation.
Now, I think my choice to live in a private apartment house was better. I think so because in my apartment house, I can have my private life without disturbing by anyone else. I think if I live in a dormitory house, I couldn't have such a life. Even in my apartment house, I can't listen to my favorite music without using a headphone.
I have said that almost all students in my university don't live in a dormitory house. Yes, that is true. Then, who live in the university dormitory? The answer is the exchange students who come from China, Korea, or other Asian countries. I dare to live with them though I am a Japanese. But life in the dormitory seems to enjoyable in one sense. They hold a dancing party once a month in their dormitory. Some of my friends asked me to come to the party, but yet I have no chance to go to the party.
I think the most important thing in our life is to keep good relation with others. I mean, to understand my friends' feeling and to co-operate with them is most important. I think that is one of the most important assets for a doctor, I want to be in the future. If I dare to live in a dormitory, my friends will think that I am a strange person. That matters very much.
So I admit that living in a dormitory is cheap and enjoyable. If I live in a dormitory, I can have many foreign friends. On top of that, I can use the 500 dollars for other things. But I choose to live in a private apartment, because almost all students do so. I know that 500 dollars per month is not cheap. But I want to do the same way as my friends do, because I am a Japanese, who hate to admit the existence of strangers. Do you think I am wrong?
