<< As the question says, I think there are two ways of our
learning about life. First one is learning from advice from others
such as parents, friends, and teachers. Second one is acquiring
knowledge or skills from our own experiences one by one. I think
that both ways are very useful with each way. Others' advice is filled
with their exreriences and becomes knowledge of those who seek the
advice. Self experience is of course tells us what was wrong
in the situation.
Others sometimes give us advice based on their
own experiences. In short, if we ask for others' advice we can know
advisers' own experience without experiencing by ourselves. These
knowledge are very useful for us to predict our future situation applying the
advice or advisers' experience to our own case. We can avoid mistake of
our decision by the useful advice. If we have a purpose and can prepare
everything in advance by making the most of others' advice of realizing it, we
can do it with the least effort. Teachers' advice about way of studying or
deciding students' future plan is good example.
Our own experience on the other hand have no
manual. It becomes the real discipline of our life. Since we can
gain the knowledge or secret key to deal with situation for ourselves, this is
absolutely apply to our every case. For instance, in a adversity of
our life, we struggle to deal with the problems and finally succeed to overcome
difficulties. We can gradually make our own device to tackle trouble in my
mind with trial and error by only our method. Thus, the secret key might
be different from others. In this way, what we gain from my
experience is absolutely suitable for ourselves and the knowledge is always more
useful than others' advice if we experience the same trouble that we had ever
dealt with.
Thinking about both characteristics of others' advice
and our knowledge gained by our own experience, I think others' advice or
warning is more helpful for me because of my few experience. I am twenty
two years old and even have no experience of working as a full-time
worker. Therefore, my knowledge from own experience is insufficient
to solve my many problems in my life. Thus, before I experience many
things and find out my own discipline from the mature experience, I would like
to seek others' advice many times.
