It can be said that advice from others are important in learning life because it provides you with some ideas of different understandings of the world. At the same time, more importantly personal experience is essential element in this learning, since your actual experience will contribute to the development of your own way of life. Moreover, personal experience is the best way to learn effectively as you tend not to forget what you actually go though. Although it is thought that both of these ways, advice and personal experience, are essential to learn about life, personal experience more greatly helps us to learn about life.

Listening to advice from others is important to learn about life in terms of learning different view of the world. I am often amazed to know that there are many different points of view and way of thinking, when my friends and family give me some advice. It is important to know that there are various ways of looking at things, because doing this can help to widen your thoughts and to know the wider world. Moreover, it can also happen that you do not realise your mistakes until others point them out. This helps us to correct our mistakes in our lives, which is an important element in knowing the real world.

Personal experience, more significantly, is essential in learning about life, because what you actually experience helps to develop and establish yourself, that is, your attitudes, thoughts, points of view that are unique to you. It can be also said that only personal experience leads you to have your own understandings of your life and how the things works with you. You may discover something new, which nobody could tell you before, through your actual personal experience.

When I decided to go to a university abroad, many people including my family gave me much advice that it was better for me to complete my bachelor in Japan first, because they had good experience at their universities in Japan that contributed to their good. Yet, this did not stop from me from coming to Australia to study at a university here. Having been here for almost 3 years, it is now certain for me that I made a right decision even at the opportunity cost of experience to study at a Japanese university. My stay here obviously gave me a good number of better and wider understandings of the world, through meeting people from different countries, learning different styles of studying, studying subjects I couldn't have studied if I were in Japan and so forth.

Personal experience is also important in learning life in the way that you tend not to forget what you have actually gone through. From experience, I sometimes forget advice from my friends and family, because it is just what they told me. From what you hear, at best, you can only understand or imagine how the things worked with them in you mind. In contrast, you know with your whole body how exactly things worked when you yourself actually experienced.

It can be concluded that personal experience is more important than listening to advice from your friends and families. Even though opinions of others will help to realise different dimensions of the world, your own personal experience should take priority over their advice. This is due to the fact that only personal experience can build your own world, and you are less likely to forget your own experience.
