<< It is common sence that children can memorize
large amount of things much more rapidly than adult people. Thus, some
adults allege with confidence that children should receive academic education in
early age, even pre-school age. However, I disagree with the idea that
infants of kindergarten should study as if they are primary school's
pupils. The reason is that infants need to learn other things which they
cannot acquire at the late stage.
One of the important things infants should acquire is
the way of making human relationship with others. Through playing with
other infants, children experience many things related to others. They
learn the importance of cooperation with others, controlling their feeling not
to be selfish and fight with others, discussing with others to result confricts
between others during children's play. Adult people might regard
children's play as just play, but it is a excellent change for infants to learn
and practice the proper way to make good relationship with others. Since
our character is almost decided until we are about eight years old, according to
the study of mental growth of human being, we should give playing first priority
over other academic things which can be acquired at the late stage.
I admit the marvelous efficiency of acquiring of
playing instruments or language, and memorizing something. However without
children's will to continue to learn, academic education to pre-school children
might lead to enforcement of study. Children who is too young to
understand the reason why they should study what they do not like, might hate
studying and quit learning. Thus, we might not be able to enhance their
ability at most. Children tend to be interested in playing with others
than memorizing contents of subjects that they do not understand.
Therefore if children do not have interests to what adults want them to learn,
such as, language, instrument, and some artistic technique, adult should
not make them to do by force.
