When we try to acquire something, we learn it from various means, doing it by ourselves, reading books, and asking someone for advice or discover the secret key to master it from discussion with others.   From my experiece, both types of methods are useful for us to learn something, but among them, doing things by myself is the most important and necessary way for acquirement of something.

Doing things are important since practicing doing what we want to master enables us to acquire the things perfectly.  For instance, if we want to improve our technique of playing the piano, we have to practice piano everyday.  Although at first we might touch wrong key many times, gradually our miss touch will decrease and finally we will be able to make completed performance.  It is because, by repeating the same action, touching key of piano according to the piece of we become used to touching key of piano with the right order.  Piano practice is the only one example, as we need to use our parts of body in certain way when we do everything.   By being used to doing what we want to acquire with the repetition of practice, we can acquire everything.  Therefore, I think doing something for ourselves is  fundamental to learn things.

Although the large amount of knowledge we gain from books is necessary for our learning, without our spontaneous action the enormous information might be in vain.   When I was a senior, I read lots of books to get enough information for writing thesis.  Though they gave me lots of information, I needed other things than the knowledge; I need my ability to choose proper information for my thesis. Therefore, I scrutinized each piece of information based on my analysis to write my thesis.  As you know,  no books told me what kind of information was useful. I learned the way of analyzing it for my self.

Listening to their advice and having discussion let us notice our unknown weak point and increase the knowledge, but doing things for ourselves is essential for us to make the most of these precious experience with others.  Others, as you know, have different points of view tell us marvelous brand-new idea.  They can judge our works more subjectively than ourselves. Consequently, others' idea is important.  However, even if we hear their advice, it does not means that we completely master the way of thinking at the same standpoint as they do.  Without trying to carry out their way actually for ourselves, we might not be able to make good use of it.

As I mentioned above, I think both of learning way is necessary for our improvement or acquirement of something.  However doing by ourselves is the fundamental way of learning.  Thus, I conclude doing things is the best way of learning.
