<< It is thought that listening is the best method for me to learn things.  Although I need to read and to obtain further knowledge and deeper understandings, I tend to learn more effectively when I listen.  This is because I understand and memorize things easily and quickly when I learn through listening. Listening is the best way for me to learn, because I seem to learn faster and effectively through listening.  In the past, I was not aware of this and I thought I usually learn the most from reading.  One day, however, I took a psychology test at a class to see which kind of person I was; learn from listening, visualising or doing things.  This test showed that I was the first type of individual.  At the time, I was wondering if it was true, but when I came to think about it, I found out that I usually learn mostly from listening rather than reading.  As a learning method of listening, I have lectures and tutorials at the university where I listen to my teachers and to other students.  Although these classes are sometimes only general guideline of subjects according to learning style in my course in social sciences in Australia, I tend to learn and remember what I learned from the lectures and tutorials the most at the fastest speed. Even when it happens that I cannot keep up with given readings, I can keep up with classes somehow with understandings from the lectures and discussions. On the basis, it seems to me that listening is the best way of learning. However, other learning method such as reading is also necessary to learn something further on my own.  It is not always possible to listen to something what you want to need to learn unless you have classes, TV programs or someone who can talk to me about the subjects that I want to learn.  When this is the case, it is necessary for me to learn on my own, and reading is the most convenient way for this.  Furthermore, even though listening is the most effective means and it provides me with understandings of subjects, I still have to learn though reading to learn what speakers such as lecturers do not mention in the classes but what I am supposed to know.  Moreover, I need to read books in search of references, further detailed information and so forth when I work on assignments.  This is important process in learning and studying, because this helps me to improve my knowledge and to develop my own view towards the subjects.  However, it can still seem that listening is more effective way to me.  This is because when I listen to similar subjects before I start the actual readings, I tend to understand well easily.  That is, listening effectively gives me images or idea of whole pictures of what I will have to read and learn, which makes it easier for me to study thorough readings.  On the basis of these considerations, it is thought that listening is, for me, the most effective learning method. In conclusion, listening is the best method for me to learn, since this enables me to understand and remember things faster.  Such learning method as reading things are also important, though listening appears more effective and thus important.  This is due to the fact that I can learn faster through reading and that listening to some similar topic or general guideline of the subjects is a great aid when I study though reading.
