| << I agree with the statement. We can't satisfied with what we have now. It is not good for us to have emotions like envies. But it is good for us to desire something more, something differnt. This is because such a desire can be a motivation to explore something new, especially in a field of science. So I completely agree with the statement. An envy itself is not a good emotion. Sometimes we feel envy to our friends. We tend to hide such an emotion because we feel shy to have envy inside our minds. One of my friends, she is a christian, told me that envy is an emotion that we want to have something we don't have but others have. This is definetely true and we shouldn't have such an emotion if we feel so just because others have. But our desire of wanting something more itself is not not so bad, rather it is even favorable one. We often wamt something more. That is, after having accomplished our goals, such as entering an uniuversity, to have a nice friend, we are beginning to think of a next goal. This is mainly because what we dreamed of becomes an ordinaly thing. Before accomplishing our goals, we dreamed of them and sometimes feel that we can't make the dreams come true. But once we achieve them, that is, our dreams become our daily routine things, we begin to search for another one. Such an emotion can be a motivation of science. In the field of science, we try to reveal the truth by experiments. The nature, phenomenons occuring in the universe, don't tell us the truth volunteerly by themselves. Instead, researchers try to clarify the truth by doing variour experiments in many scientific fields. Their curiousities are never satisfied. And such curiousities can lead to the truth. In conclusion, I completely agree with the statement. We can not be satisfied with what we have now. We can not be fullfilled with what we know now. And I believe such an academic curiousity can be the most powerful force in a field of science. |
