| << I disagree with the statement. I think we work for more than just earning much money. We work for many reasons. For example, we work for our family, for our own enjoyments, or to buy something expensive. I want to think about the reason why we work. First, of course most people work for money. We want to earn much money. In our lives, we can't live without money. When we go to a shopping center to buy something to eat for our dinner, we can't get anything without money. We can't even live in a house if we don't have money. In Japan, we think we must have at least clothes, foods, and a house as minimal requirements. As you know, we can't get any of these 3 elements without money. So most of us work to satisfy our minimal requirements. When we satisfy the minimum, then we begin to think of getting something more. For example, we tend to think of wearing more warm clothes, sometimes want to eat outside at a restaurant, and in some cases want to live in a bigger house. Then, we need to earn more money than we earn now. But such a desire to get something more have its own limits. We don't eat outside everyday. We don't even think of living in the DisneyLand. Or we can't wear many clothes than our body mass. So we don't have to earn so much money. As for me, I'm very satisfied with my life now. I don't want to have more than I have now. So I don't need much more money. On the other hand, I want to get something more in my job. That is, I want to get higher skills as a doctor, though I'm still a student now. Such a skill as a good doctor can't be bought with money. Those skills can only be acquired by our daily experiences in a hospital. Also, in our country, a good skillful doctor doesn't necessarily earn a lot of money. That means, our efforts in a hospital don't always result in our higher salary. But I want to be a competent doctor, though I know that doesn't lead to my earnings. This is because I feel that only earning much money doesn't equal to our success. I want to be satisfied with my high quality jobs. In other words, I want to help my future patients as much as I can. I believe that will give me mental satisfaction that can't be bought with money. And such a mental satisfaction will surely harvest my life as a human being. |
