I just graduated from my university, and entered in the Ph.D course of the same university. So I want to tell something about my university where I studied for four years. I guess mainly three important changes can be made about my university. The first change is about the lecture style and interactions among students or between teachers and students. The second one is about the scholarship for students who can't afford their tuition fees. The last one is about English education in my country, Japan. Of all the three important changes, I guess the first one should be applied more quickly.

Now, in my university, the lecture style is the usual one, that means, a professor teaches his/her students in a large classroom. In this style of lecture, students can learn must knowledge in a very efficient manner. Of course students are allowed to throw their questions to a porfessor during the class, and in most cases, porfessors kindly take time for their questions, so we can learn much from the professor, or even from other students through such questions. We can learn what other students understand and could not understand in such a classroom.

In Japan, teachers always say that, "He who asks gets, he who doesn't doesn't.". This means, the more we ask our questions to our supervisors, the more we can learn from them. I said in the former paragraph, that we can ask questions even during the classroom. But of course in such style of lecture, we have limits to ask questions, because one professor has to teach 100 students at the same time.

If senior students teach younger students, I guess both the younger and senior students can learn more efficiently. In such a system, senior students teach what they have learned last year to the one grade younger students. By doing so, senior students can also review their understanding through the experience of teaching. At the same time, the younger students have more opportunity to ask questions, because 100 students of them have 100 students of the senior students.

I guess by mixing the both old and new style of teaching systems, students can learn more efficiently and quickly. Also this may allow different grade students to interact each other and allow them to learn much more than just knowledge. So I think this must be the best choice for my school if it has to improve some important thing.
