Some gifts appear to contribute to development of children, because the presents can give children chances to start learning something out of the gifts. It seems that animals such as dog is one of the best gifts that can help to develop the children. This is due to the fact that children can learn to be responsible for the pets and to be gentle to something weaker such as small animals.

It can be said that an animal such as dog can be an ideal gift to help a child develop, for the child can gain sense of responsibility though taking care of the dog. If a child is given a dog and a responsibility to look after the dog, the child is supposed to feed and walk the dog, and keep eye on the dog to make sure that it is fine. Even if it is impossible for a young child to do all this kind of tasks on their own, the child has to do at least some parts of the tasks with the dog. Because the dog is an alive domesticated animal, it needs to be taken care of by the child, or the dog can be sick or lack of food, water or exercise. This can somehow make the child do the tasks to look after the dog and have sense that the child is the one who is responsible for the dog that depends its life on the child. It is important for a child to gain responsibility in this way, because it is one of the most important things that grown up adults are supposed to have. If children do not learn to be responsible for anything, they can grow up without it. Thus they can have troubles later their life where they are supposed to be responsible for their work, themselves, family and so froth. On the basis of this consideration, it seems an animal such as dog can be a good gift to a child to help them develop.

Another reason the animal like a dog can be a good gift to assist a child's development is that the child can learn to be gentle to things or people that are weaker than him or her. When the children are so young, they may not know that there is something that are weaker and have to be taken care of gently, so they could do something even cruel to animals without knowing this. However, if the kids have some pets as small dogs, they are likely to come to know that they are weaker than human beings and the children has to be gentle to them. Through taking care of the pets, the children come to know that the animals also have feelings and they can feel happy, sad, suffering, hungry, angry and so forth, and thus the children come to realise that they must not hurt the animals. It is important for children to interact with animals to gain this sense to be gentle. Without any experience to interact with them, the children cannot grow the love toward the animals and they lose any interests in them. Some can be even cruel and hurt the animals easily It seems important that the children grow to be gentle to animals, because this can also enables children to learn to be gentle not only to animals but to people who are physically or mentally weaker than them. Moreover, I personally think it is important for children and grown up adults to have love to animals not to hurt them, because the animals can feel suffering just as we do.

In conclusion, the animals such as dogs can be suitable gift to children to assist them to develop. This is because, though, taking care of animals, children can gain responsibly as well as gentle heart toward animals.
