<< I agree with the viewpoint of several short vacations. Of course one long vacation may have its own merits. I want to think of that in the following paragraph. But according my experiences, several short vacations are good for students, especially for students in Japan. So I agree with several short vacations than one long vacation. Of course one long vacation also has its good point for students to use their free time efficiently. I guess college or university students have 3 or 4 free months in total. In Japan, we take these 3 or 4 months vacation, like 2 months in summer, 1 month in winter, and 1 month in spring. But if we can take this 4 months long vacation at one time, we can use the time in other ways. For example, if we have a chance, we can go abroad and study our majors in another viewpoint. Our native language is Japanese, but if we can use English, we can communicate with many co-workers all around the world. Furthermore, if possible, we might be able to work in a foreign country. On the other hand, if we can't have such a long vacation, that is, if we have several 1 or 2 months vacations, we can't go abroad for studying our majors. But as for Japan, I agree with the several short vacations. This is mainly because of our climate of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. In each period, we have 1 or 2 months vacation, except for autumn. In autumn, our climate is very mild, not too hot, not too cold. And nights are very long than other seasons. This is very good for students to study until late at night. So school doesn't allow student to have vacation in this season. Instead, in spring, summer, and winter, we have very enjoyable times. In each seasons, we can enjoy our favorite sports. For example, in spring and winter we can go snowboarding with our friends. As for me, I go snowboarding with my friends for 3 or 4 days in each season. If we don't have vacation, I can't have such a joyfull event. In summer, we go to a sea to swim under the sun. Unfortunately, I and my friends can't do surfing, so we can't enjoy any sports in this season. Instead we can do barbeque on the beach, or we can swim in the sea. Sometimes, we go to a mountain to do a camping. As I have stated, we have many enjoyable events in each season, and that can't be done without several vacations in each season. If we have classes everyday, and have no free time, we can't do that with friends. So I prefer several short vacations than one long vacation.
