| << It is not until I started to live alone as a college
student, that I did have any experience to live in an apartment. From my
experience of living in both types of residence, there are many unique merits
and demerits in both living spaces. If I am asked to choose either a house
or a apartment building as my living place, I would like to choose
traditional house despite several demerits, since life in a house brings me much
comfortable life than an apartment.
Traditional house generally have much larger space
available for the residents, which enables us to make each necessary rooms
broader and therefore comfortable. We would take rest in more broader
rooms and therefore, we can relax ourselves in released atmosphere brought by
the larger rooms. Larger furniture such as double bed or sofa, allowed to
put by the broad space will make our life more comfortable. Larger
bathroom also heal our body and mind. If we live in an apartment, we have to
consider the size and amount of furniture very carefully thanks to its narrow
space. When I lived in an apartment, the kitchen is too narrow to cook
what I wanted to cook and my bathtub and bath room was so narrow that I could
not relax so much. In this way, larger rooms that a house have
provide us more suitable place for our relaxsation, which is the most important
role of a living space.
Some people might prefer living in a modern apartment
paying attention to its convenience, its sophisticated and urban
atmosphere. However, to keep its modern atmosphere, there are usually lots
of common rules in the comunity of residents in apartment. From my
experience of looking for my apartment, many of apartment prohibits
residents to tame pets such as dogs or cats, to hang and dry clothes and
mattress in balcony in order to keep its superficial beauty. Thus, such
merits at the cost of practical comforts of residents are not important for me.
Moreover, I do not care the demerit of living house. In the
end, we can be used to inconvenience to some extent. Now I live at a house
in very inconvenient place, which have few super markets. However,
gradually we become used to the trivial inconvenience thanks to the comfortable
living condition.
Thinking merit and demerit of both living spaces, I prefer to live in a house rather than in a room of modern building because life in a house seems to guarantee my more comfortable and less-regulated life that I love. |
