Since I went to a private college, I was not troubled by too old fashioned decaying school buildings, like when I learned in a public school.  The condition of the school buildings was very suitable for students' study.  However, I still had one complaint about my university, too small number of books available.  Because of lack of materials, students did not only gain enough reading materials for their research but also took much time to look for the adequate books at other libraries.   Thinking about these condition of my college, I would like to recommend that the school should spend the financial support for increasing the number of books.

 

  First trouble caused by small number of books is that students cannot borrow what they want to use as material for their research.  In my college, lack of books caused firce competition of borrowing books between students in particular term, like examination terms or deadline of graduation thesis.  Therefore, if we were late a little bit, there is few useful books and those who could not gain reading material so much have to manage to do their assignment with the insufficient materials or other materials than books.

 

 Some people might think that students in my university can refer to the books in other libraries.  However, since freshman and sophomore whose campus are far from big libraries, have to take much time, about two hours to go looking for adequate books to other libraries from their campus in Kanagawa prefecture.         

 

  Moreover, few kinds of materials in my university library make students' research insufficient.  When I was a senior and tried to discover materials for my graduation thesis, I had much trouble to gain books that I desire to read.   When seeking for adequate materials, I used to refer to the index of some useful books that I had already discovered as well as to search on line.  I was eager to read some articles of English news paper in the early twentieth for my research.  However, I could not read them in the end, although I went to other libraries in Tokyo.  In this way, lack of reading materials in the university library could prevent students from completing their research papers.

 

  In this way, insufficiency of library is devastating situation for students' study.  School should prepare students' studying condition at most, since this is the most important purpose of its role.
