Imagining that I received some land, I could come up with three options; sell it, build a house to rent, or just leave it untouched. This is because the land itself do not seem valuable to me, for I will move around and have no idea if I can use the land even if I decide to use it for some purposes at this time. I would like to use it to generate some financial source to support my future plans.

I can hardly see any benefit in holding the land at this time being. I am currently a student in overseas, and am going to leave this place and probably go back to Japan in less than one year. I still have no idea where I am going to live when I am back there, because I think I just go wherever I can find a good job. Moreover, I would like to go back to a university to do a graduate degree sometime after I work and save some money. Considering these things, it is the least likely that I stay in one place in a log term, thus I cannot see any value in the land itself as an immobile commodity. That is, even if I build something useful, I would not be able to use it because I will have to move around. I would rather use it to generate some financial aid for my future plans.

To do this, the first thing I could do is to sell the land. This is the easiest way to turn the land into actual money that I can use. I have no idea how much does the land worth with the provided information, but it could supposedly generate some money to help me to get into a graduate school and sustain my student life there.

Another thing I might be able to do is that I build a house and rent it to someone else. This enables me to obtain some money constantly if there is a tenant. Even if I was overseas and unable to take care the house on my own, I could ask a real estate agency to do so on behalf of me. In this way, I could generate some money every month, which could also help me to make my plans come true. However, as a student, I can never afford to build a house or such on my own, so it is not a realistic option. To me, I feel that it is easier to sell it.

The last possible option is to leave the land untouched, even though I cannot see any point to hold the land at this time being. I do not need to own any land or house at this time as mentioned earlier at this time being. However, I cannot deny the possibility that I may need the land in the future. I might want to settle down in one place, and want to build my own house on the land. Or in case anything happens to my family, they may want to move from their current house. I do not know what is going to happen in the future, so it can be a good idea to keep the land first as a one kind of insurance.

There are three options that I could come up with what to do with the land. The most likely choice is simply to sell the land, because what comes first to me at this time being is to obtain some financial source to go to a graduate school. It is impossible for me to build anything on the land, so I cannot chose to build a house to rent. Moreover, I would rather not just keep it untouched, because what I need now is to go to a graduate school in not too far future, which will hopefully enable me to get a good job and earn enough to support my life without the insurance of the land I received.
