| << Due to the increasing industrialisation that are taken place all over the world, environmental destruction has become a serious problem that various kinds of natural resources are disappearing at a fast rate. It is widely realised that every natural resource is important to sustain the lives of any kinds on the earth, thus is needed to be saved. However, if I were asked to choose only one among them to save, my choice would be forest. This is because forests are significantly relates to other natural resources, therefore are important in terms of lives of animals, air quality, and water quality. The exisistance of the forests are crucial in terms of the lives of animals that inhabit there. A number of animals depend their lives on the forests in order to obtain their shelters and food. As for the former, the animals make den or nest to live and breed, which is necessary to sustain their lives and species. Theses shelters are especially crucial to protect their babies and offspring from other animals and harsh natural environment. As for the latter, the forests provides the animals with the food such as seeds, leaves and so forth of any sorts to insects and herbivores, that would feed carnivores. If the forests are destroyed, the shelter and food of the animals would disappear which will the most likely to result in the death of the animals. Evidently, the number of animals on the earth significantly dropped and many species are disappearing, which are coincided with the destruction of the forests. Although other factors such as over-hunting by us humans is also responsible for the problem, it is safe to say that the destruction of the forests caused these issues of the animals. The necessity of the conservation of the forests is also due to their function to provide us with clean air. The forests intake CO2 that is produced excessively by humans though driving cars, manufacturing goods and so on and that is one of the greenhouse gases to accelerate the global worming. Without forests, the amount of CO2 will only increase that will lead to a situation where the temperatures of the earth go up that will cause the raise of the sea level and increase in harmful virus. At the same time, they generate oxygen that is essential for every single creature including us human beings. Without oxygen, no life is capable of surviving on the earth. This function of the forests to provide us with clean air underlines the importance of the forests. Finally, the conservation of the forests can be reasonably justified on an account of their role to store and supply clean and fresh water. Forests are capable of storing water with using their roots when it rains. The wader stored with the help of the roots of the woods are called ground water stored in water table, which recharges rivers and creeks with fresh water. This fresh water is essential to sustain our lives, other animas and plans. If there is no forests, the water only go into the lower soil that would not be available, or the water flows into the river or ocean that can cause salnisation and desertification of the soil at the place. Additionally, because the woods help to store the water using the roots, they can also hold the soils, thus can prevent landslides in case of high rainfall. This adds to the importance of the forests conservation. In conclusion, the forests should be the one that are saved first, for this helps to protect many other natural resources. The existence of the forests is important for the lives of animals, supply of clean air and water. |
