Animals in zoos enjoy us with their exotic and graceful appearances.   Children's might be fascinated with such animals and have interests toward novel creatures and aim to be veterinarian in the future.  Therefore, adults have prone to believe that zoos are very useful in the aspect of education of children.  They also allege zoos' important role in conservation of endangered species.  I feel these ideas are true to some extent.  Despite these purposes of zoos, I cannot support of the existence of most of zoos.  It is because animals in zoos seems to be suffer from the severe conditions of the zoos.
The climate of the zoos, where they are tamed, seem not to agree with many kinds of animals from foreign countries which is I feel,  one type of mistreating animals.  In summer, we usually watch white bears and  penguins be exhausted grilled by shine in zoos of my country, Japan.  Apparently, such kinds of animals, coming from frigid zone, cannot adjust themselves to climate of humid zone.  How pitty they are!  Because of the serious climate gap between their native land and the country they are brought, those animals accumulate heavy stress and become illness and die easily.  Even if they can be kept in proper temperature and humidity, they have no freedom to stroll the suitable place for them.  Thus, they must be under heavy physical and mental stress.  In this situation, zoos are hell for animals.
Whereas the disadvantageous situation of zoos, there are some reasonable purpose for zoos.  Zoos can promote some animals which are injured to be cure and creatures that cannot reproduce their offspring in nature by the aggravation of environment to breed artificially well-prepared condition.  Although, I admit its necessity, it never become the reason for us to justify to capture animals unnecessarily and expose them in their unsuitable climate.
The educational use of zoos can not be given priority over the lives of animals since we can learn about these animals by other means like TV programs about wild animals or pictures on many kinds of books.  Although some are enger to look them directly in zoos, I believe that such enthusiasm is selfish in a sense, thinking about amials' severe realities.
Zoos might have a couple of purpose with the consideration of protection of some endangered animals as I have pointed out,  However, now there are lots of useful educational materials about animals other than direct observation, it is reasonable to conclude that other animals are certainly in captivity for irrelevant purpose like educational purpose.  Thinking about amimals' agonies in zoos, we should not keep animals unnecessarily in unnatural conditions only for our own satisfaction.
