<< We have experienced dramatic change politically, economically, and technologically. Among these drastic changes, the very first on my list is the establishment of the United Nations, (later, U.N.), an international association to improve economic and social conditions and solve political problems in the world. In this essay, I will explain how the association plays an important part in improvement of economic and social condition and solve political problems. The U,N. brought more peaceful situation to the world. After the advent of the organization, any countries cannot easily invade other nations any longer. It is because a specialized organization on the United Nations, the United Nations Security Council decide to take economic or military sanctions against the evil nations. UNSC also makes various decisions to settle disputes around the world. U.N also help developing countries enhance their economy by financial support from one of specialized organizations in U.N, the International Bank of Reconstruction and Development. Now many developing countries have tried to activate their domestic industry with the help of bank. In fact, my country Japan can reconstruct its economic base and develop into an advanced country thanks to the financial support. Although it is ture that all the developing countries do not succeed to strengthen their economic condition, compared with the situaiton before the establishment of the world bank, more developing countries have improved their industry. U,N also presented world standard of human right that people should be permitted to have. On December, 20, 1948, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Right which made standard of fundamental human right. Of course, this declaration had no power to punish the nations which justified the infringement of human right. However, this can be the first step to achieve the goal that all the people would be treated and respected fairly beyond the difference of religion, race, and gender, because the adopt of the declaration gave all the nations that are members of the association, a precious chance to consider the concept of fundamantal human right. In this way, the establishment of the United Nations improve economic, social and political conditions around the world. Therefore, I would like to declare that the establisment of the association should be remembered as the remarkable change in the twentieth century.
