| << I don't know much about a history in the 20th century. So I want to talk about relatively recent matters. The Internet has surely changed our lives and will continue to make our lives better in the next century. The internet enabled us to communicate via E-mail, instead of an ordinaly type of letter mail. We can even talk online by using such as MSN Messenger. In the future, we may be able to see movies and TV programs on our computer screen. By using our computer, we don't need to send our mail in an old type of letter form. E-mail enable us to communicate quickly in a cheap price. For example, I use Yahoo's broad band and pay only 30 dollars a month. How much I send E-mails to my friends, I don't have to pay more than the 30 dollars. On top of that, if you only buy a headphone with a microphone, you can talk with your friends online for free. The headphone usually cost only 10 dollars or so. This must be beneficial especially when you want to talk with friends live in foreign counties. If you talk with them by using an international telephone call, you must pay expensive fees. But if you use the Internet as a communicating method, for example, I don't have to pay more than the previous 30 dollars. How long I talk with my friends, I don't have to pay more than the constant 30 dollars. I believe in the near future, the Internet takes place of an ordinally type telephone. Maybe we'll be able to see movies and TV programs on the net. For example, if you visit Apple.com's movie site, you can see trailers of many movies. I watched a trailer of "Star Wars Episode 2" in the website and very impressed by its beautiful movies and sounds. We couldn't do this before, because we haven't DSL until recently. But now, most of us use DSL and be able to retrieve large amounts of information at fast speeds. I think the Internt is surely one of the great changes in the 20th century, and it will continue to improve our lives in the next century. |
