<<        It is unforgettable experience to receive gifts in any occasion, as you can feel the messages that the persons who gift you have intentions to send you through the presents. To which extent you remember the gifts seems to depend on how important the situation and the message from the sender is. I personally remember almost all the gifts that I received especially in recent years because of this reason. However, in such occasion as farewell gifts, the message people send is even stronger than other occasions, which makes this kind of gift unforgettable.        People usually have some messages to send you when they gift you of anything under any occasions. Even though it is not common to send cards for Japanese people, people still have some messages when they give presents. To take an example of birthday present, they are sending you a message that they are and will be happy to have you around them. This will probably apply to other gifts such as Christmas and Easter gifts. There are also many other occasions that you receive gifts when something special happen to you. For instance, you get presents when you make some achievement such as graduation when people gift you to congratulate you and to wish you a good luck for your next goal. Likewise, people give you presents on big events in your life such as wedding, reaching one�fs estate, starting your business and so forth to congratulate and then encourage you. You usually appreciate these messages that you can feel from the gifts, even if they did not directly tell you explicitly. This will definitely make you remember gifts. The stronger the message you receive, the better you tend to remember them, which is because this is the largest determinant of how you are impressed with the gifts.        To me personally, I feel I get the strongest messages from farewell gifts among gifts that I have ever received. When I come to think with which gifts I was impressed with, I usually come up with the gifts that I was given when I left the place, or when someone left the places. I received some accessaries from my closest friends in Japan when I left there for Australia 3 years ago, which I can never forget about. This is since the gifts showed me that they think about me and wish me good luck. In other cases, because I am a student overseas, I have seen off many friends leaving this country for good, which I may not ever see in my entire life. They usually leave their friends including me some gifts to show they will remember us and to wish us good luck in the rest of our lives. These gifts are unforgettable, as they are one kind of symbol of our friendship or relationship. These two kinds of farewell gifts that I receive are extremely unforgettable due to the message from those whom I will not see for so long, if not never see again in my life. Additionally, these gifts can also encourage me not to be beaten when the time is hard. The gifts I received when I left Japan especially reminded me of their encouragement and helped me not to give up when I was very stressed wondering if I could pass my first course at the university here. This obviously made the gift even more unforgettable.
