The advent of technology has brought us convenient and enjoyable life because of the increasing the number of entertainment methods and useful machines in our daily life.  As we develop various kinds of technology, we gradually increase the amount of information to deal with in every field like business.  Therefore, this tendency, I think, demands us to improve our literacy enough to deal with the increasing information written on paper or monitor of computer.

 

  First of all, development of transportation system and computer technology enebles us to get contact with others quickly and frequently.   If you send e-mail or call phone to others, you can receive the letter or reply immediately.  Therefore, we must have next contact more rapidly with rapid reading and writing than bofore the development of such kind of method.

 

 Moreover, internet search engine and many of other website give us much larger amount of information about a certain things.  Although we can find out more materials rapidly, we have to read it as much as possible to scrutinize whether or not the materials are useful for our present research. It is because some of online information is wrong or too ambiguous for us to trust as an  important source.  In short, increasing information to deal with lead to more necessity of literacy. 

 

 Some people might oppose my opinion by pointing out that we especially young people have never read writing materials like book or newspaper.  However decreasing the number of books people read does not mean the decline of necessity of writing and reading skills.  Writing and reading ability has been one of essential skills for our lives.  Even after the advent of recording machines like phonograph, tape recorder and so on, we have written down important information as archives.  When we communicate with others, we still write letter or e-mail.  Despite the existese of handy method of telephone, we send others letter when we have to tell them the most important things.  It is because writing materials become record. 

 

  With the analysis of the situation of necessity of literacy, it is still important skills and increase of information that I mentioned earlier demand us more sophisticated ability of writing and reading enough to manage to deal with it.  Therefore, I conclude that now we are needed to improve our literacy more than ever before.
