If it can afford, my university should purchase books for the library rather than computers for the students. Our university, about a year ago, purchased a great number of computers for students that are accessible by any student to do an Internet research, doing assignments and so on. Nonetheless, the library in our university do not have enough books for loans, which always cause us serious problems in obtaining information sources and references.

The number and range of the books that the library has is very limited. Although we students usually need to obtain information about the subjects from recently published book and journals for most of the subjects, it is unlikely that the university has the sufficient number of them. Evidently, whenever we want to borrow books for our assignments and references of the lectures and tutorials, we have to hurry to the library, or we cannot obtain any relevant or quality book. Especially wen the size of the course is large, a great number of students need the same books that the library holds only a couple copies for loan, and the great competition takes place. The students who cannot obtain enough books can somehow gain information by making photocopies of the non-lending books, journals, and Internet sources, but it is obvious that this makes it harder and time-consuming to do our assignments. This is because the ranges of the books that are not for lending are highly limited. Moreover, it is sometimes necessary to use books rather than journals that are not for lending since is often happens that the journal articles are too focused on one point of the issue, and do not cover all the issues sufficiently.

This significantly causes the students problems because we are required to read books for self-study and assignments. At the beginnings of each semester, we are given course outline that shows us which books that we are required to read to keep up the classes. It can be vital to read these books mentioned in the course outline to prepare ourselves for lectures, tutorials, practicals, quizzes and examinations. The library only have a couple of copies for lending and some more for non-lending. When we have one for non-lending, we can still read the book through photocopying, but causes us inconveniences. The situation gets worse when the library have no copy of the book, which sometimes happen to us for some reasons. This causes us serious problems in understanding the subjects or expanding the issues taught in the classes fully. Another problem that the insufficiency of the books occurs when we have assignments. The qualities of assignments that are based on the individual research by the students highly depend on the quality and the volume of the information obtained. This means that the students cannot make the most of the assignments to learn more deeply about the subjects and the grade of the students probably drops, which disadvantage us when we go job hunting. These troubles that students have doe to the lack of enough books in the library reasonably justify that the university purchase book rather than computers.
