Nowadays especially in developed countries, almost everything is available, so we don't have to bring anything when we go for a trip. If I go away from my country, Japan, and stay in a foreing country for a year, I want to take my friends' photograph.

Imagine that you trip to a developed country and have a laptop computer. You can talk with your friend, you can even see your friends' faces by using the Internet. By using an Email system, we can send digital photos. If we have web cameras with our computers, we can even talk with our friends seeing their faces. In such a case, we don't have to bring our friends' or our favorite people's photo to our trip.

On the other hand, when we trip to developing countries, where we can't use the Internet, I guess what we desire most is our favorite people's photograph. Of course we can bring any other things from our developed country. For example, if you like listening to music, you can bring portable CD or MD player to the country. But you can't hear music without battery, and you can't get enough battery in a foreign country.

What I want to say most is what we now call our culture has no sense in a foreign country. We can't rely on something we bring from our country, what we can believe in is our own body and mind.

Our body can't easily be broken if we take enough care to our health, and we continue daily exercises even in a foreign country. But our mind can easily collapse when we are alone in an unknown place. Friends' existence itself gives us much power for our living. With no practical help, we are helped by our friends just because they are around us. So I want to bring my favorite friends' photograph if I go away from my country.
