<< That one additional item is a personal computer. To me it is like a magic box that can give me almost everything I need while being away from home. In reality, I cannot forget about my home and family for a whole year and enjoy the trip. But if I have no choice but to leave, I need to make sure everyone in my family is doing all right while I am away. PC makes it possible for me to keep in touch with them in such a situation. Exchanging e-mail, doing chat, and sending movie file can be done with one PC. Bank account can be taken care of just by typing the keyboard. I can even order daily necessities and groceries for my family, although that would dampen my enjoyment! Apart from the use to help my husband and other members keep house, PC has many other uses. If it is on-line, you can get any information wherever you are. It is like you are carrying one library with you. PC enables me to keep abreast with the times. Not only current news and information, I can read literature. Traveling alone is unthinkable to me, but mere thought of reading stories all alone in a quiet environment sounds very enticing. If there is a PC, I can also study when I want to. Also I do not have to worry about having no sense of direction. Maps, train and subway routes are all contained in a small rap-top. Life without a computer is really inconvenient. Not a day passes without looking at a screen. For me, this lifestyle will remain the same wherever I am. For these reasons, PC is a must item for my year-long trip.
