Let me first specify what kind of problems there can be. One of the problems is the difficulty that arises from different curriculums, uniforms, studying styles and so on between the schools.

Second and probably the tougher problem may be the difficulty for a newcomer to blend in with the other students because of their different backgrounds. Their smooth communications can be sometimes hindered. Especially onefs dialect, which tends to die hard, may become the main reason for communication breakdown. Also different cultures, different ways of doing things may prevent children from getting along well with each other.

The first problem may be cleared relatively easily if teachers of both schools are considerate enough to do their utmost to coordinate textbooks, uniforms and other curriculum issues as soon as possible. The second problem however, can persist as children may lack patience and generosity to accept the differences.

What can be done to help the children understand each other in such a situation? No doubt, the teacher has the key. He or she must constantly preach to the children that being different in looks or in ways of thinking and etc, is only natural, not an unusual matter. Open-mindedness toward people of different backgrounds should be nurtured from early on at school.

Also teachers need to have a lot of good ideas that will be applied to each and every problem. One that I think will work well is to put the new student in a group of students who are kind, patient and understanding by nature. Those kinds of students are better suited to help the newcomer to adjust soon.

Dealing with the problems for a transfer student can be tough sometimes because of the reasons I have mentioned so far, but solving them could be done when compassionate teachers and kind-hearted students work together to make the environment comfortable for him or her. Whether a transfer student can start a happy new school life or not depends a lot on teacherfs capacity to bring the class together and a lot of studentsf volunteer spirits.
