When I was a student, I had both types of classes, teachers' lecture and discussion with other students.  From my experiences, I feel that both lecture and discussion are important and useful for us, students to enhance our academic ability in different ways. However I personally prefer discussing with others to listening mentors' explanation. 

 

  Taking teachers' lecture in front of black board is necessary for us to increase our adequate knowledge in short time.  Teachers, who are familiar with the subject and have enough experience to teach, can tell us the most reasonable explanation about each content of lecture and give us copious and comprehensive knowledge.  Therefore, we can gain precious knowledge from their lectures, without which we might fail to know some important things about the subject or miss learning the contents.   Listening to experienced schalor's explanation and advice is the best way of touching on the proper stuff of study, efficiently.

 

 Thinking about this trait of lecture from teachers, some might regard teachers' lecture is perfect as for educational style. However, discussion with other classmates also gives students educational important opportunity to learn different things from teachers' lecture .  It is way of proper discussing with others, how to research and have our own idea, others' point of view and so on.  In order to prepare discussion certain topic with others, we have to do meticurous research through which we form our own opinion.  In library or something, we will manage to make our own opinion from gathered information.  Through analysing our own idea before discussion and others' opinion during discussion, we will have an objective points of view in thinking about everything.  In the midst of exchange opinion, we will have a precious chance to learn how to show our own opinion precisely and persuasively.

 

  In this way, both lecture styles have each traits and therefore students should receive both lectures.  But I personally like discussion with others better since former seems to be useful for me.  It is because I think the experience we can gain from meeting with classmates are more applicable to other things.  While teachers' knowledge we can gain from their class is very limited and we might forget the contents, our experience to practice communicate with others effectively, to have fair point of view, and to learn how to discover our own idea for ourselves plays an important part in our future, since we are always demand to communicate with others and show our own idea even after graduation.
