The 21st century has begun.  What changes do you think this new century will bring?  Use examples and details in your answer.

For us, ordinary people, the most impressive development in the former century is the Internet system. In the 21st century, this internet technology will be more common, and take place of other media such as TV and newspaper. In the field of medicine, especially in molecular biology, great researchers have discovered many important facts which can also be applied to clinical medicines.

Now especially in developed countries, personal computers are common for most people. Many families have at least one personal computer; sometimes all family members have their own computers. When my parents were a child, having a car is not a usual thing. Only wealthy families or farmers had cars. For most people, car was a luxurious thing. Now in Japan, most people have their own cars, in some cases, each family member has their own cars.

Personal computers are not still enough prevailed. But in the next 50 or 100 years, I guess computers will substitute for most other media. For example, most families in Japan now subscribe newspaper, and every family has at least one television in their home. But even now, some pioneering people read and get information from the Internet, not through ordinary newspaper.

We can also see movies through the Internet. When we contact with our friends or co-workers, we can use the E-mail system, which is quicker and cost-effective than the paper mail system. Some advanced teachers even try to do their lectures on line.

These facts imply that personal computers could take place of other media. Even for most common people, buying or shopping on the Internet auction becomes more popular. These people have their account in an e-bank; they can pay money through this electric system. In the 21st century our life will be changed to a great extent by this Internet system.

In the field of medicine, we have also experienced a great development especially in the field of molecular medicine. This technology enables us to understand the diseases at a molecular mechanism levels. This means we can target the diseases more clearly with the least side effects.

Mass media cast a light especially on a cloning technology. But I guess the importance of molecular technology is more than a cloning technology. That is, we pay too much attention to this technology. Cloning itself is not the center of molecular technology; it is only a part of the molecular technology. I expect that in the 21st century, molecular technology will bring us many beneficial results that can lead to the human beings' benefit itself.
