| << I live in Japan. We rarely see Japanese movies, instead, we usually watch Hollywood movies. This means, we have no chance to learn about a country except for the U.S. Thus, for us Japanese, this topic can be converted to "What have you learned about the United States from watching Hollywood movies?" From Hollywood movies, we learn much about the culture and the spirit of American people. Hollywood movies can be classified into several groups. Action, commedy, rommance, war, and so on. Every of these groups have its own character to express each aspect of the american people. As for action, the most impressive one must be "Terminator 2", we learn that the United States is really a giant country. What is the aim of making an action movie? I don't know what American or European people feel from watching action movies. But as for Japanese, I can guess the effect of action movies to some extent. By watching action movies, we know that America is a really giant country. The scale of an action movie itself is big. Using many bombing or car crushing scenes, action movies have a power to attract our minds to screens. On top of that, actors of action movies are muscler American men and actresses are sexy American wemen. Movies, especially Hollywood movies have a power not only to entertain us, but also to know us that the United States is a giant empire. |
