5 time bombs found in Indonesia's Ambon
The Indonesian police have seized five time bombs after a week of searching in
Ambon, capital of the eastern province of Maluku, an officer said Monday.
"The five time bombs contain TNT. Although the devices were made long time ago,
they are still very dangerous," Yustanto Mujiharso, commander of police's special unit
Brimob, was quoted by Detikcom online news service as saying.
He said a man was arrested during the operation in addition to another suspect
already in custody, who gave tip-off about the bombs.
He also said in the week-long operation, his unit has confiscated hundreds of
ammunitions and some other military equipments buried in chocolate plantations or
house yards.
The city has become a scene of sectarian clashes between Muslims and Christians
since 1999 and rebellion by the separatist South Maluku Republic since 1950.
