The "Divine Hours" is basically a psalter that was devised to
ensure the reading of all the psalms once a week. Many other
inspirational enhancements were added in over the centuries.
There are many forms of it aside from the Brevarium Romanum.
The differences mainly involve the order in which the psalms
are read. Daily reading formerly was required reading for all
priest but no longer is. The Hours presented here are only those
used throughout the year. Variations were produced for special
seasons during the year (advent, easter, etc.).
