Sean Patrick Thomas can be seen in such movies as Cruel Intentions, Courage Under Fire, and his latest film, Save the Last Dance.

He currently has a role in CBS' The District, which airs on Saturday nights.

Growing up in Wilmington, Delaware, he became interested in acting after enrolling as a student at the University of Virginia. After the suggestion of one of his professors, he participated in the performing arts program while studying for a major in English. He went on to pursue his talent at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he then earned his MFA. He started his professional career there in New York, playing such roles as "Timon of Athens" at the Public Theatre.

Other stage credits include the Young Playwright's Festival presentation of "This Is About a Boy's Fear", "As You Like It" and regional productions such as "Cooley High", "The Amen Corner", "Twelfth Night", and "Six Degrees of Separation".
