Merle: Master Van, please answer me! Master Van!
//Escaflowne lays still. Blood drips out of it. Everyone else rushes into the room.
Allen: Blood from the control chamber...
Hitomi: Van... Van, hang on! Can you hear me? Van, wake up! Van!
//Escaflowne's cockpit opens and a injured Van falls out.
Hitomi: Van...
Merle: Master Van!
Hitomi: Allen...
Allen: Call Princess Millerna.
Reeden: Okay.
Allen: Only the armor was damaged. How was he injured so severely?
//Van stands up.
Hitomi: Van, don't move.
//Van walks towards the edge of the platform.
Van: I... I... I can fight more. I...
Hitomi: Van!
Merle: Don't!
//Van's wings burst from out of his shirt.
Millerna: W...wings...
Allen: The Dragon Clan...
//Van's wings dissappear and he falls to the ground.
Hitomi: Van!

//A bloody Van lies on a table in Crusade with bandages all over him.
Ort: I can't believe the King is of the Dragon Clan...
Allen: The power of Atlantis and the Dragon Clan... Why do so many things that make me remember
him keep happening?
Millerna: His pulse is unstable. At this rate, he'll die.
Hitomi: No!
Merle: You're a doctor, aren't you?! Do something!
Millerna: Don't say such nonsense! His injuries are unusual. From inside... it seems as though
these wounds are cut from inside his body. There's no way to heal these wounds. The
control chamber of Escaflowne is intact, isn't it?
Hitomi: Escaflowne?
//Hitomi rushes out of the room.
Millerna: Hitomi!
//Hitomi runs to the hangar. There, she notices the heavily damaged Escaflowne has marks at the
same place where Van is injured.
Hitomi: Same damage as Van...
//She flashes back to the last episode. Allen rushes in.
Allen: Hitomi... What's wrong?
Hitomi: Van's feeling it. Allen, Van's become a part of Escaflowne! So, unless we repair
Escaflowne, at this rate, Van will... Van'll die!
Allen: That can't be...
Gaddeth: Boss...
Allen: What is it?
Gaddeth: An Asturian trade fleet is approaching.
//A large fleet of Asturian ships approach. Inside one, a long haired man kisses a mermaid
through a glass container.
Dryden: Your native sea is near. It's time for goodbye, Silfiel.
//Silfiel says something, but we can't hear it.
Dryden: What a face you're making. The ocean is where mermaids belong, and they should be smiling.
Don't get captured again. If you're captured, tell them you're acquainted with Dryden of
Asturia.
//A few minutes later, Dryden comes down the stairs where is assistant greets him.
Assistant: Young master, you paid so much for that mermaid, but you're just going to free her
into the ocean. I'll be scolded by the old master.
Dryden: Don't be so stingy. Beautiful things belong in nature.
//Dryden puts his sunglasses on and approaches the window where he sees Crusade.
Dryden: That's Crusade, isn't it?
Assistant: They're asking to meet with you.
Millerna: You're Dryden, aren't you?
//Millerna is at the door.
Dryden: Who are you?
Assistant: She's the third princess of Asturia, Millerna.
//Dryden smirks. Meanwhile, on Crusade...
Hitomi: Millerna's fiancé...? Could he be...?
Allen: Yes, he's the son of Meiden, who tried to kidnap you.
Hitomi: Can we trust him?
Allen: No. But his knowledge might be able to save Van.
//Millerna and Dryden are in his study.
Dryden: Do you like my study? Here you go.
Millerna: Thank you.
Dryden: My heart's pounding, isn't it? Honestly speaking, I thought you were a shrew just five
years ago, but you've become such a beautiful princess. I'm so excited.
Millerna: You've become a wonderful man, also.
Dryden: Do you really think so?
Millerna: I'm not lying.
Dryden: Then, let's go home and hold our wedding ceremony right away.
Millerna: What're you saying so suddenly?
Dryden: So suddenly...'? You're my fiance! Look at me.
//We see Dryden sitting on a pile of money.
Dryden: My business is growing and I'm super rich.
//We see Dryden reading.
Dryden: I have knowledge that surpasses any scholar. I hate to say this, but I'm good-looking,
right? Is there any problem?
Millerna: D... Dryden... I...
Dryden: Sorry, sorry. You have to prepare yourself, right?
Millerna: Dryden.
Dryden: Well, they say 'haste makes waste'. You didn't come to talk about such things, did you?
Let's get down to business.
Millerna: O... okay.
//Meanwhile, Folken is in Fortona Temple, looking at the Power Spot.
Folken: All we have to do is remove the seal.
//A soldier whispers something to him.
Folken: How selfish, Dilandau.
//Dilandau and the other Dragonslayers are heading out in their Guymelefs.
Dilandau: Now that the power spot is in our hands, let me do as I like.
//Dryden arrives on Crusade and is amazed to see Escaflowne.
Dryden: So that's an Ispano Guymelef!
//Dryden jumps on Escaflowne and starts examining it.
Dryden: It's got so much damage on it! Those knights are such... Let me see...
Assistant: Young master, be careful!
Hitomi: Is that Dryden?
Allen: Yeah.
//Hitomi looks at Millerna, who doesn't appear to be too cheerful.
Dryden: It seems that the legend is true.
Allen: What do you mean, Mr. Dryden?
Dryden: No 'mister', please. Call me Dryden.
Allen: Stop being irritating.
Dryden: An ancient book said that an Ispano Guymelef assimilates its master unto death.
Allen: 'Master'?
Hitomi: 'Assimilate unto death...'?
Millerna: What do you mean?
Dryden: Ispano is a clan whose knowledge was learned from the people of Atlantis. The Guymelefs
built by them choose their master through a contract of blood. Until the master dies, it
keeps fighting. Sometimes it does it by itself. When the Guymelef gets damaged and falls,
the master dies also.
//Hitomi flashes back to the previous episode again.
Van: Instead of just using Escaflowne, I decided to visualize it. Hitomi, I'll no longer...
Hitomi: This is my fault. I drew Van into...
Allen: Hitomi?
Dryden: Just repair the Guymelef, and he'll be okay.
Allen: We can't do such major work.
Dryden: Well, Ispano's Guymelef has a...
//Dryden finds a switch in Escaflowne and pulls it. Green light pours out of Escaflowne's head.
Allen: What did you do?
Dryden: I called.
Allen: Who?
Dryden: The Ispano Clan who made Escaflowne.
//A blue portal appears above the ship and another, much larger ship comes out.
Allen: It's huge!
Dryden: So, that's the legendary factory ship of Ispano.
//Later, the Ispano chant around Escaflowne.
Hitomi: Are they alright?
Dryden: They confirmed the authenticity of Escaflowne.
//The Ispano turn. One goes up to Allen and holds out his hand.
Ispano Leader: Fifty million.
Allen: F... fifty million...?!
Ispano Leader: The repair cost of Escaflowne.
Reeden: Our salaries...
Gaddeth: ...two thousand years worth!
Hitomi: That much money...?!
Ispano Leader: If you can't pay, we'll leave.
Hitomi: Allen...
Dryden: I'll pay.
Assistant: Young master!
Dryden: You can have my whole fleet. How's that?
Assistant: Young master, it took five years to collect these!
//Dryden signs a contract for it.
Assistant: It should be worth no less than eighty million as a whole!
Millerna: Dryden, we can't pay back that much money.
Dryden: A member of a royal family shouldn't say such a pathetic thing. I like that king.

//The Ispano work on Escaflowne. Van screams in terror.
Allen: Van, hang in there! Get rope! Tie him down with some rope!
Gaddess: King, hang in there!
Reeden: I got the rope!
Dryden: He's feeling Escaflowne's pain. It's true after all.
Hitomi: Dryden...?
Dryden: Don't worry. Once Escaflowne is repaired, his wounds will disappear. If he can survive
the pain...
//Van continues to scream in terror. Merle cries.
Merle: Master Van... Master Van's dying!
Hitomi: Merle, hang in there. He won't... he won't die from something like this...
//Hitomi falls to her knees.
Hitomi: He'll be alright... because it's Van... right, Merle?
//Meanwhile, in Fortona Temple Chid places the sword down and the Power Spot is opened.
Folken: This is the power of Atlantis...
//Green light emits from the power spot and appears in Zaibach.
Dornkirk: My dream... It's the beginning of my ideal future...
//Later, the repairs on Escaflowne are done. Van is better.
Millerna: They're all healed!
Gaddeth: Not even a single wound is left.
//Merle hugs Van.
Merle: Master Van! I'm glad! I'm so glad!
Van: Merle, I made you worry, didn't I?
Dryden: I can't believe he's really recovered.
Van: I owe all of you. Thank you. Allen, you saved me again.
Allen: If you want to thank someone, thank Dryden and Hitomi.
Dryden: It was all thanks to her.
Van: Hitomi...
Hitomi: Van, be careful with Escaflowne. No, I don't think you should pilot it again. If
Escaflowne gets damaged, the same thing will happen. If Escaflowne is destroyed, you'll...
Van: I won't damage Escaflowne.
Hitomi: Van...
Ispano Leader: Soldiers are coming. Ispano doesn't want to get involved. You should get out of
here.
Allen: Zaibach?
Gaddeth: Damn, pursued already.
Van: Let's go, Allen.
//The Ispano guy walks up to Van.
Ispano Leader: The contract with blood...
//Flashback to when Van cut his finger and put his blood in the energist.
Ispano Leader: Using Dragon Clan blood, Ispano makes no guarantees.
Hitomi: Makes no guarantees...?
//Dilandau and the others continue towards Dryden's ship.
Dilandau: What an obvious place they escaped to.
//The Ispano ship goes back into the portal and vanishes.
Allen: Don't you have any guymelefs?
Dryden: Don't be silly. This is only a trade ship. I have some ornaments, though.
//Van goes to Escaflowne, but Merle and Hitomi try to stop him.
Hitomi: Don't, Van! Let Allen and the others handle this battle!
Van: Those melefs are no match for them!
Merle: Listen to Hitomi!
Hitomi: The people of Ispano said they couldn't make any guarantees! You mustn't pilot Escaflowne!
//Van pushes the two of them to the ground.
Van: I can handle Escaflowne.
//Van gets in Escaflowne. It stands and approaches the door to the ship.
Van: Open the hatch!
Hitomi: Don't go! Van!
//Escaflowne jumps off the ship and transforms into Dragon mode.
Hitomi: Van...
//A few furry animals run off into a cave while Escaflowne lands on the ground. The Zaibach
Guymelefs soon follow.
Dilandau: Guys, let's finish the dragon hunt today.
Van: I'll settle this myself. Escaflowne, give me your power.
//Escaflowne's Gears start moving.
Dilandau: Get him!
//Multiple Guymelefs charge Van. One of them shoots at it, But Escaflowne blocks the attack and
cuts through multiple Guymelefs at once.
Guimel: Aaaah!!!!
//Escaflowne crushes the Guymelef's head, spewing blood everywhere. Another Guymelef charges, but
Van impales it right through the middle. He turns quickly and slams his sword down on the next
Guymelef to approach him.
Gatti: Aaaaah!
//The Guymelefs melt into a bloody mess and catch aflame.
Dilandau: He's fast, use the Stealth Manteaux!
//The Guymelefs activate their Stealth Cloaks, but this does them little good because by
'dowsing', Van can see them.
Van: I can see... I can see them!
//Van cuts through 2 more Guymelefs with ease. Dallet screams in terror and attempts to make a
metal shield, but Van smashes right through it.
Dallet: Aaah!
Van: That's for Duke Freid!
//The Guymelef explodes in a bloody mess like the others.
Van: This is for Balgus!
//Van continues to smash through the Dragonslayers, taking out 3 more of them. Dilandau watches
in terror.
Dilandau: What's going on...? What happened to him?
Shester: Master Dilandau!
//Shester, the last remaining Dragonslayer, dies. Dilandau is all alone.
Dilandau: Gatti, Shester...? Dallet...?!
//Escaflowne stands in front of him, looking very menacing.
Dilandau: What's with him?
//Meanwhile, Hitomi and Merle watch.
Merle: Master Van's winning!
Hitomi: No. Something's wrong with Escaflowne.
//Escaflowne steps closer to Dilandau. Dilandau screams in terror.
Dilandau: Stay away!
//Dilandau shoots at Escaflowne. One of them knicks it, causing Van to bleed.
Van: For Fanelia... Prepare yourself!
//Dilandau is scared to death as Van charges him. However, the blood on Van's face drips all over
the cockpit. Suddenly, the whole landscape is sprayed in blood. Van stops, as ghosts appear
around him.
Dallet: Stop.
Van: What's that?
Shester: I won't let you kill Master Dilandau.
Van: What?
Gatti: Why don't you come with us?
Van: Who are you?
Dragonslayer: We owe Master Dilandau.
Dragonslayer: He entrusted us with honorable guymelefs.
Dragonslayer: He gave me a guymelef.
//The ghosts of the Dragonslayers are around Dilandau's Guymelef. Van finds himself outside of
Escaflowne. Ghosts fly around him.
Van: You're... You're... Stay away!
Van: No!
//Van screams in terror. Escaflowne turns black and falls to the ground. Dilandau, scared to
death, retreats. Meanwhile, everyone watches in horror from Dryden's ship.
Merle: What happened to Master Van?
Hitomi: Van...
//A pitch black Escaflowne lays still on the ground.
