//A green beam blasts from Dornkirk's Castle into the sky, causing a wave of green light to
spread out over Gaea. Soldiers on the battlefield watch.
Soldier: What's that light?
Soldier2: It's from the Imperial Capital.
Soldier: Could it be?
Soldier2: It's over. The Empire is ruined.
//Inside there...
Hitomi: The Absolute Fortunate Zone...?
Dornkirk: Yes. The last process of the Fate Redirector will change our fate. It will grant
everyone's wishes, and create absolute happiness. The true potential of the Atlantis
Machine will be tested.
Hitomi: That's... Isn't that what ruined Atlantis?

//Meanwhile, back on the battlefield, the Zaibach forces retreat. On the Baslam Main ship...
Soldier: Zaibach's army is withdrawing.
General: Now that its main force is destroyed, Zaibach is dying out. The aftermath of this war
will be very important to our country of Baslam. Change the course to Norte! We'll kill
those allied pigs now!
//Elsewhere on the battlefield...
Soldier: It's Deidalas' army! It's a surprise attack from Deidalas!
Leader: As soon as the war's outcome is determined, he takes action! We'll defeat them instead!
//Meanwhile, at the Chesario camp...
Chesario Leader: Now is the time for Chesario Kingdom to conquer Gaea! Destroy them!
//Elsewhere...
Deidalas Leader: How shameless of them. They wouldn't have won without us! Don't hold back!

Soldiers: Enemy attack! Enemy attack!
Soldier: Baslam's army...
//An enemy soldier kills them.
//Meanwhile, Allen takes out 3 Guymelefs by himself.
Allen: The ties between our allies have broken?!
//On Crusade...
Gadeth: What're they doing?! Our allies have split up!
Pyle: Sarge, Baslam's floating ship is...
//The Baslam Ship nears it.
General: Cowards of Asturia... Swat them from the skies!
Gadeth: Descend!
//The Baslam ship slams into them, breaking off one of the Levi Stones.
Kio: They got us! The rock was broken off!
Gadeth: Crash land!
//The ship crashes nearby. Van is battling another Guymelef.
Van: What...?
//He sees the allied forces fighting each other on the ground.
Van: Our enemy is Zaibach! Stop!
//He swings his sword. Hitomi senses what's happening.
Hitomi: What's that? Why are the allied armies fighting each other?
Dornkirk: People's thoughts are the cause of this.
//One of the soldiers kills another.
Soldier: It's so easy to hunt the remnants.
//Dilandau, in his Guymelef jumps above him and takes him out. He forms a sword and chops another
one down the middle.
Dilandau: My war hasn't ended yet... Van!
//In Zaibach...
Dornkirk: War is expanding in the Absolute Fortunate Zone... ...where people's wishes are
supposed to be granted. Can't people escape the fate of war...? Are people willing to
fight...?
Hitomi: That can't be.
//Jajuka meanwhile defeats an enemy.
Jajuka: I lost track of Master Dilandau.
//He flashes back to 10 years ago when he met with a Sorceror.
Sorceror: Jajuka, I'm entrusting you with another child to take care of. Keep our experiment
between us.
//Meanwhile, Serena is in a room, crying.
Serena: Don't leave me alone! Please, take me home!
//Jajuka comes in with some food.
Jajuka: Eat something. I'll be in trouble if you die. Poor thing. Your hair was cut off.
//Back to the present...
Jajuka: I must find him quickly!
//He flies off. In Zaibach...
Hitomi: Please, stop the machine, and end the war!
Dornkirk: Impossible. No one can stop changing fate once it has begun. If destruction is our
fate, we must accept it.
//Escaflowne defeats another enemy.
Van: Damn!
//He sees a Guymelef defeated in front of him fall to the ground, revealing the red Guymelef
behind it.
Van: The red Guymelef...
Dilandau: I finally found you. I've been looking for you for a long time, Van.
//Dilandau shoots at him, Van blocks.
Van: Dilandau!
Dilandau: Here I come!
//Dilandau swipes at Van, he blocks.
Dilandau: Excellent.
//Dilandau makes another swipe at Van, but Escaflowne stabs it with his sword then swipes the
whole arm off. He then chops off the adjacent leg, knocking the Guymelef to the ground.
Dilandau shoots at him with his other arm, and thats chopped off as well. Van is about to
finish him off when Jajuka jumps in the way. The sword goes right through the cockpit, setting
it aflame.
Dilandau: Jajuka!
Jajuka: Master Dilandau, please escape!
//There's another flashback of Jajuka in the garden with Serena.
Jajuka: It's alright to change back to Serena! That gentle Serena...!
//He dies as the burning Guymelef falls to the ground.
Dilandau: Jajuka...
//He flashes back to when they first met.
Jajuka: Don't be afraid. My name is Jajuka.
Dilandau: What the...?
//He flashes back to when a group of guards took Serena away and knocked Jajuka away.
Guard: You mere beastman...!
Serena: Jajuka!
Jajuka: Don't! Don't take her! Serena!
//Dilandau's eyes change color.
Dilandau: Jajuka, don't leave me alone.
//Dilandau turns back into Serena.
Van: I'll finish you!
//Escaflowne charges the remains of the Guymelef.
Hitomi: Don't!
Van: What the...?
//Allen flies down and blocks the attack.
Van: Allen.
Allen: Don't, Van! Draw back your sword!
Van: He's possessed by fighting. I'll kill him to eliminate the root of the evil on Gaea!
Allen: No! Even if you kill Dilandau, people won't be free from grief!
Van: What?
//Van swipes at Allen.
Van: How can you understand the sadness of someone who lost his country?!
Allen: I'll be your opponent. Dilandau is my sister!
//Allen blocks Van's attack.
Van: Allen, have you gone crazy?
Allen: Her sin is my sin, even though she was controlled by Zaibach's black magic. You don't have
to hold back! Defeat me! Fight me, Van Fanel! The Knight of Heaven, Allen Schezar, will
fight you as best as I can!
//The battle begins. Gadeth climbs up the cliff and sees what's happening.
Gadeth: Sherazade and Escaflowne!
Pyle: The Boss and the King are...
Gadeth: They're serious. It won't be over until one of them dies.
Pyle: Sarge...
//Hitomi sees what's happening.
Hitomi: Why are Van and Allen...?
Dornkirk: That's their wish.
Hitomi: That can't be... Stop, Van!
//They continue to exchange blows.
Allen: Your skills have suprisingly improved. I'm so glad, Van!
//Van blocks his attack and knocks him back.
Van: How can you control a Guymelef so well...?
//They continue to battle.
Van: You're strong! Just like you, Allen!
Allen: You've become a very good pilot! You remind me of Vargas!
//Scherazade jumps up and swings, but is blocked.
Van: I want to defeat him!
Dornkirk: They look happy. Their wishes were granted in the Absolute Fortunate Zone.
//Serena, now out of her Guymelef removes the headband and looks at what's happening. She looks
at Scherazade and realizes Allen's piloting it. She has a flashback of when they were in the
field.
Allen: Serena.
//Back to the present...
Serena: Brother... Brother!
//Allen looks through the Guymelef face mask.
Serena: Brother!
Allen: Serena.
Van: Allen!
//Realizing Allen's distraction, Van swings his sword towards the Guymelef's head.
Hitomi: Don't!

//Escaflowne's sword is implanted right in Scherezade's head.
Hitomi: Stop, Van. You shouldn't fight.
Van: What...?
//Van and Hitomi are in a bluish mist like area. Hitomi holds on to Van's arm.
Van: Hitomi...?
Hitomi: This is because of Dornkirk's machine.
Van: Dornkirk?
Hitomi: Misfortune keeps happening. At this rate, Gaea, will be like Atlantis!
Van: So, I'll settle the matter with Allen, then I'll kill Dornkirk.
Hitomi: No, you don't have to fight, Van.
Van: I'll end this war, I'll avenge my brother, and save you.
Hitomi: No! That way of thinking is causing the war.
//Van and Hitomi float through a surrealistic landscape, with red images of Escaflowne and
Scherazade in the background.
Van: I'm fighting to protect you!
Hitomi: No one asked you to! You shouldn't fight! You don't have to fight Allen!
Van: You just care about Allen.
Hitomi: No! Why won't you understand me?
//Van and Hitomi are seperated from each other. The landscape turns a dark black.
Hitomi: Although I worry about you so much... Although I care about you so much... ...why won't
you understand?
//The pendant swings behind her and Folken appears.
Folken: It'll be alright, as long as you believe.
Hitomi: Folken...
//The landscape changes into a cliff, like that from the opening theme.
Folken: People's wishes can sometimes shake Heaven. However, when two wishes collide, it creates
a very bad feeling. If people can eliminate it, they will change.
Hitomi: Bad feelings...? Colliding wishes...?
//The landscape turns black again. There is a large web, with Van trapped inside.
Hitomi: My wish has bound Van...? To honestly care about Van... To believe in... I...
//She looks at him. The pendant swings, and the web crumbles.
Hitomi: Because I like Van. I really like...
//Hitomi now stands in a windy field. Once again, it reminds me of the opening.
Hitomi: The smell of grass... the smell of Van... Because I like you, Van.
Van: Hitomi.
Hitomi: Sorry, I was the one who was blind.
//We now go back to reality. Scherezade collapses to the ground. The cockpit opens and Allen
comes out.
Allen: Serena! Serena.
Serena: Brother.
//Serena faints. Allen catches her.
Allen: Serena! Do you recognize me?
Serena: Brother, I wanted to see you.
Allen: Serena, I'm glad that you're back. I won't leave you alone.
Van: Serena... Allen's sister...
//Allen and Serena stand.
Allen: Van, I heard Hitomi's voice. Hitomi's waiting.
//Van nods. Escaflowne transforms into a dragon and flies away.
Allen: Van...
Serena: White... a white dragon...
Gadeth: Boss!
//The Crusade crew run to greet Allen.
//Meanwhile, bolts of electricity hit various parts of the Zaibach capital.
Dornkirk: It's the final phase. Just as gold can't be created, fate can't be controlled.
Hitomi: Did you give up? I don't believe that there's a predetermined fate.
//Van flies towards the capital, over the battlefield.
Van: An excited mind draws the dragon. Grudge and fear cause war.
//Escaflowne's energist glows, and it goes haywire.
Van: Escaflowne...!
//He has a vision of Hitomi.
Van: Hitomi... Hitomi!
//Van's wings burst out of his back and he lets go of Escaflowne. White feathers fall to the
ground. The soldiers stop fighting and look.
Soldier: A dragon... A white dragon's flying away.
//The soldier drops his weapon. Meanwhile, Van reaches the capital of Zaibach. He flies over the
collapsing landscape towards Dornkirk's castle, in front of him.
Van: Is that it?
//Hitomi appears again. Van flies into the green light eminating from the castle.
Van: Hitomi!
Hitomi: Van! Van's coming! He's coming for me!
Dornkirk: Impossible. Once the Atlantis Machine has been activate...
Hitomi: Van!
//The globe cracks, and Van flies through. Hitomi jumps into his arms.
Dornkirk: Their feelings that draw each other... ...did their feelings surpass people's minds
that were bound by the fate of war? However, can this moment, created by the fragile
minds of people, last forever?
//Dornkirk fades away. A light glows around Van and Hitomi as the green light fades and vanishes.
The sun shines through the clouds. The remaining troops stand on the battlefield, peacefully.
Allen, stand with his sister and the Crusade Crew.
Allen: Hitomi...
//Back on earth, a few girls chat.
Girl: He might have a crush on me.
Girl2: What? You're overconfident.
Girl3: Nao, you're mean.
Girl2: How about asking to have your fortune read to see if Takuya's in love with you, Sachiko?
Girl: Kanzaki, you're good at fortunetelling, right? Can you read her love fortune?
Hitomi: I quit fortunetelling. Sorry.
//Extended flashback of back on Gaea. Various people rebuild Fanelia. Merle brings some food to a
group of men.
Merle: I brought your food!
Worker: Oh, thanks!
//Meanwhile, at the grave site in the woods behind the castle...
Van: Brother, I've finally returned to our homeland, Fanelia. Watch over the future of the
country from here.
Hitomi: I feel like it was long ago when I came to Fanelia. What are you going to do?
Van: People's wishes will rebuild Gaea.
//Van walks up to Escaflowne. He removes the energist from it's slot. Escaflowne turns a greyish
color. Van gives it one last glance.
Van: Thank you, Escaflowne.
//Van walks up to Hitomi.
Hitomi: Van...
Van: Escaflowne should be kept asleep. My brother wished for a Fanelia and Gaea where no one
relies on it. I want to see the world like that.
Hitomi: I want to see that with you. I wonder if I can... I like Gaea and Fanelia.
Van: If you want to do so, it's alright with me. But we can see each other anytime, as long as
we share a common feeling.
Hitomi: Van...
//She holds out her pendant to him.
Hitomi: Here...
//Van takes the pendant.
Hitomi: ...keep this, Van.
//They hug.
Hitomi: I'll never forget you, even if I become old. I'll never forget, no matter what...
//As they hug, we see people the ghosts of the deceased watching. First Gaou and Vari, then Duke
Freid and Marlene, followed by Folken with Naria & Eriya, and finally Vargas.
//Van holds up the energist. A pillar of light appears. Hitomi starts heading upward.
Hitomi: I'll never forget!
Van: Hitomi.
//The villagers of Fanelia watch the pillar of light as the credits start to roll. Merle waves.
Merle: Hitomi!
//Allen and Serena watch from their parent's graves. The Crusade Crew watches. Millerna watches
from the castle.
Millerna: Goodbye, Hitomi.
//Eries comes out and takes her by the shoulder. Dryden and his assistant watch from their ship.
Chid watches with the Freid monks. Mole Man watches sitting atop a statue.
Mole Man: Bye, girl!
//Back on earth.
Girl: I'm envious of Yukari.
Girl2: Right. She perfectly matches Amano. She's like our...
//Hitomi looks over at the ocean. She sees Van there, smiling.
Hitomi: Van... I'm doing fine.
