Hitomi: Was it a dream... or an illusion? Fanelia was burning. While choked by the heat... We
were surrounded by the light again and taken into the sky. Yes, this is Gaea... ...a
mysterious world where Earth and Moon appear in the sky.
//In another odd vision-like sequence, Hitomi and Escaflowne go through a portal. The pillar of
light appears once more, in a wooded area. A man with glasses watches.

//Van is near Escaflowne in the woods, by himself.
Van: From the position of the stars, I'm sure this is Gaea. Was she taken to the other place...?
//Hitomi meanwhile, sits by herself elsewhere in the woods.
Hitomi: What should I do? I'm alone in a place like this.
//Hitomi holds out her pendant.
Hitomi: Please... tell me which direction I should go.
//Two eyes glow in the darkness behind. A fat glassed man grabs Hitomi and knocks her to the
ground. Hitomi screams.
Van: Hitomi?
//The strange man tries to take Hitomi's pendant.
Hitomi: Mom! No!
//An owl flies in from the nearby shore and pecks at his face.
Mole Man: Stop! Stop! Damn you, damn you, damn you, damn you!
//The owl's owner, a man with long blond hair shows up.
Allen: It's you again.You weren't satisfied with stealing, now you attack a powerless woman.
Unforgivable.
Mole Man: A... Allen...
Allen: Take your punishment!
//Allen punches him, knocking him out. Allen walks up to Hitomi.
Allen: Are you hurt, miss? Why are you here? Do you have a reason? Anything wrong?
//Hitomi sees Allen's face turn into Amano's, since they look so similar.
Amano: Here, Kanzaki.
//Hitomi starts crying and jumps into his arms.
Hitomi: Senpai! Senpai! Amano senpai, I was so scared. Amano senpai...
//She passes out.
Van: Hitomi!
//Van approaches and grabs his sword.
Van: You, what did you do to that girl?!
Allen stands up with Hitomi in his arms.
Allen: It's not wise to get so excited.
//Van starts pulling out his sword.
Allen: Don't draw! If you draw, you'll die.
Van: Say what?!
Allen: A knight has to use his sword against a sword. I don't draw for play.
//Van draws his sword.
Allen: How foolish.
//Allen puts Hitomi down and draws his sword. Van charges at him. Allen dodges then jumps over
Van.
Allen: You have good aptitude. However...
//Allen hits Van in the stomach. Van pukes and passes out.
Allen: You didn't step foward enough. You're too good to be killed. That was the flat of my
sword. What should I do with these two?
//Meanwhile, a gigantic floating fortress passes over the burned remains of Fanelia. A group of
boys around 15, dressed in blue armor kneel before their leader, a boy around their age, but
dressed in red.
Dilandau: Two Alceideses... against those boorish knights...? Two were damaged...?
//Two of the boys kneel and apologize.
Shester and Dallet: W... we apologize!
Dilandau: Step foward!
//He slaps them.
Dilandau: How pathetic, despite having the Stealth Manteaux. Do you wish to disgrace my name?
Shester and Dallet: We're very sorry!
Dilandau: I won't repeat this again. The Dragon Slayers don't need any incompetents. Do you
understand?
Shester and Dallet: Sir.
//Dilandau leaves, and talks to Folken, a blue haired man wearing a cloak.
Folken: Dilandau, you didn't have to burn Fanelia. I want you to use the Stealth Manteau more
effectively.
Dilandau: I didn't expect you to say such things. You betrayed Fanelia, Folken.
//They enter a circular room with three stands in the center.
Dilandau: I've no reason to listen to advice about battle from an amateur like you.
Folken: "Amateur..." You're too blunt.
//Folken pushes down on the stands.
Dilandau: What's this room for?
Folken: This is your first time, isn't it?
//The face of an old man appears on the screen in front of them.
Dilandau: L... Lord Dornkirk...!
//Dilandau kneels.
Dornkirk: Folken, the shadow of the dragon that falls upon the Zaibach Empire hasn't dissappeared.
The dragon escaped Fanelia. Capture it no matter what.
Folken: Yes, sir. As you wish, Lord Dornkirk.
Dornkirk: One more thing...
//We see a view of an industrialized, cloudy city and close in on a large building. Inside,
Dornkirk sits attached to a large machine.
Dornkirk: My Destiny Predictor didn't expect the column of light to appear... ...but I sense a
shift of power in it. Get rid of the uncertain elements. The dragon is within the
border of Asturia. Capture the dragon to revive the legendary power of Atlantis.
//Hitomi awakens with Amano sitting next to her.
Hitomi: Amano senpai?
Amano: You're awake?
Hitomi: I...
Amano: It was amnesia. You lost consciousness while running.
Hitomi: I was having a dream.
Amano: What kind?
Hitomi: A scary one. No, a sad one. I was seperated from you.
Amano: Don't worry, I'll stay with you.
Hitomi: Amano senpai...
//Hitomi wakes up from her dream with Allen looking over her.
Allen: You're awake...?
Hitomi: Umm...
Reeden: The princess awakens.
//Behind Allen sits a group of scruffy looking men.
Pyle: Hi, cute girl. Did ya sleep well...?
Allen: Hey, stop that. She's frightened. Your faces are too ugly to wake up to.
Kio: You're mean, boss.
Paile: Don't confuse me with Pyle.
Pyle: Jerk.
//They laugh. Hitomi gets up and looks at the sky.
Hitomi: I haven't returned. I'm not on Earth.
//Hitomi kneels and buries her face in her arms.
Hitomi: Amano... Yukari... Mom...
Allen: What's happened to you? You can tell me if you don't mind? As a knight of Asturia...
Allen Schezar. You're our guest in this fort. To protect you as the owner of this fort...
...as a knight... ...no, as a man, I must do it.
Hitomi: Allen...
Reeden: Man, how could he say a line like that without blushing?
Paile: That's unusual for the boss.
//Two more men come in, with Van.
Gadeth: Boss, the brat's regained consciousness.
Allen: Bring him in.
Teo: Enter.
//They push him in.
Hitomi: Van...?!
//Allen smiles, Van gives him a dirty look. Later, they talk outside the fort.
Allen: Illusionary Moon...? Are you saying she's from the Illusionary Moon? She's a resident of
the Illusionary Moon...?
Van: That's right, as I said earlier.
Allen: I see.
//Allen holds up Van's sword.
Allen: Since the King of Fanelia says so... I must believe it. What's your name?
Hitomi: Hitomi... Kanzaki Hitomi.
Allen: Hitomi... sounds nice.
Van: Allen, I apologize for entering your country without notice. So, Escaflowne... please give
my Guymelef back to me.
Allen: What are you going to do with the Guymelef?
Van: I'll return to Fanelia. We were attacked by an unknown enemy, and during the battle I was
taken to this place.
Allen: It's a waste of time.
Van: Say what?!
Allen: Fanelia was burned. Everything was burned.
//Van and Hitomi are shocked.
Van: Th... that can't be.
Allen: Merchants from our country saw it. I'm sorry, but...
//We see Merchants looking at the burned remains.
Allen: What happened? If you tell me, I might be able to help you.
Hitomi: Van.
Van: Fanelia was destroyed.
//The place starts shaking.
Hitomi: What's that?
//The floating fortress from earlier nears the fort.
Allen: Zaibach Empire's... floating fortress.
//Multiple Guymelefs exit the fortress.
Man: Those are Guymelefs.
Man2: Zaibach's Guymelefs are coming down!
Hitomi: Those are... ...the giants that attacked Fanelia.

//Outside the fort stands the Guymelefs. Inside, Dilandau and his Dragonslayers are lined up in
front of Allen.
Dilandau: I request that you supply weapons, food, and water. This is an emergency mobilization.
Allen: I'll do the best I can.
//Hitomi tries to see.
Hitomi: Just a little, please.
Gadeth: Damn, keep this a secret from the boss.
//Van pushes his way through to the front of the crowd.
Katz: H...hey!
Paile: You...
//Allen notices. Van has a dirty look on his face.
Dilandau: By the way, Allen... ...have you seen a strange Guymelef around here?
Allen: No, I haven't. Does this have something to do with the mobilization of the floating
fortress?
Dilandau: More or less.
Allen: I heard that Fanelia, in the west, was attacked.
Dilandau: That poor, small country...? They might have been destroyed by the dragons that wander
around the valley. It's a proper ending for a poor country like that. Anyway, it's a
country of cowards, and their king's disappeared. I don't care what happened to it.
Van: Cowards are the ones who don't show themselves in battle.
//Dilandau walks up to Van, pushes him aside and looks at Hitomi.
Dilandau: You're wearing strange clothes. Where are you from?
Allen: She's my new girlfriend. I found her in the east. Her name is Hitomi.
//Allen kisses Hitomi on the cheek. Van and Dilandau give odd looks.
Allen: That's all, Dilandau.
Dilandau: You're just like the rumors say, Allen Schezar. Proceed with the resupply.
//They start leaving.
Reeden: They're shocked.
Kio: Once they see the boss doing it...
Teo: We're shocked even though we're used to seeing it.
Allen: We've escaped the danger for now. Bad rumors about you might be spread in the Zaibach
Empire. Gadess, come to my room later.
Gadeth: Sir.
Allen leaves. Hitomi touches her cheek.
Hitomi: Is he... Is he the one?
//Hitomi sees Allen grow wings out of his back. The vision fades.
//Meanwhile, on the Floating Fortress...
Dilandau: They'll show their tails soon. You don't have to rush.
Gatti: Aye, sir. Scout squad's in position.
Dilandau: Good. Prepare for battle.
Gatti: Aye.
Dilandau: Allen Schezar, your luck ran out once I marked you.
//A Guymelef hides in the nearby woods and spies on the fort. Meanwhile, Hitomi and Van sit in
the fort.
Hitomi: Allen...
//She looks at Van, who isn't looking very happy.
Hitomi: Van...
//Hitomi remembers something and reaches inside her shirt for her Tarot Cards and takes them out.
Hitomi: I still have them. Van, don't be depressed. Cheer up.
//She starts putting out Tarot Cards.
Hitomi: See? It's L ' ELEMITA. This card says you should stay put.
Van: What are those?
Hitomi: Tarot Cards. I can read your fate with these.
Van: How could those things tell my fate?
Hitomi: I was trying to help you relax. You're so tense.
//She takes out the next card, the Death Card.
Hitomi: The Death card...?
//The Grim reaper flies out of the card at her. It flies around her then evaporates into flames.
Hitomi sees a group of Guymelefs attacking the fort and sees Dilandau's face, with him laughing
Van grabs Hitomi and snaps her out of it.
Hitomi: Hitomi!
Hitomi: V... Van.
Van: What happened?
//He hears something.
Hitomi: What's that?
Van: Stay back.
//A shovel shatters through the floor and the strange man from earlier pops his head up.
Mole Man: Oh, is this the wrong room?
Hitomi: You're the pervert from yesterday.
Van: Pervert?
//Presumably later, Allen is told by Gadeth...
Allen: What? They're gone...?
Gadeth: Yes. I have no idea where they are.
Allen: I do. Hey, get Scherezade ready.
//Meanwhile, the 3 of them walk underground.
Mole Man: I'm just a petty thief. I was captured in this fort recently. But you know, I'm a mole.
So, I dug a hole to go out for a walk. On the way, I saw the beautiful stone that you
have...
Hitomi: That's why you attacked me.
Mole Man: To apologize, I brought your bag.
Hitomi: It was brought from Fanelia also...
//They reach the Guymelef Hangar.
Mole Man: This is the hangar for the Guymelefs.
//They reach Escaflowne.
Mole Man: That's a magnificant Guymelef. Was it made in Ispano?
Hitomi: What are you going to do?
Van: I'll get out of here and return to Fanelia.
//Van climbs into Escaflowne and gets in.
Hitomi: Stop, Van! You should listen to what Allen says!
//Escaflowne gets up and starts walking.
Hitomi: Van! Stop!
//However, the door out of the hangar opens. There stands a large grey Guymelef. The cockpit
opens, and Allen is inside.
Allen: Van, I told you not to leave this fort.
Hitomi: Allen.
Allen: If you dare to do so, defeat me first. If you can do it, though...
Van: Alright.
//They go outside and prepare to fight. Many people watch.
Spectator: How many strokes will he be able to block?
Knight: One attack, and he'll be finished.
//One of the Dragonslayers watches from the woods.
Hitomi: Don't, Van! Why fight Allen...
//Escaflowne steps back, knocking her back into Gadeth's arms.
Gadeth: Be careful.
Hitomi: Gadess...?
Gadeth: Don't worry.
Hitomi: But...
Gadeth: It's okay. Come this way.
Allen: Are you ready, Van Fanel?
Van: Come on.
Allen: I will.
//Escaflowne pulls out it's sword.
Watcher: The boss'll win with just one stroke.
Fan: Hey, someone has ta bet on that brat.
Watcher: Ya idiot! Why don't you do that?
Gadeth: Which side are you going to bet on?
Hitomi: Eh? That's....
//Escaflowne swipes at Scherazade, which blocks.
Allen: You didn't step foward enough, Van!
//He knocks Escaflowne back and swings. Escaflowne blocks.
Kio: He blocked it.
Reeden: Just luck.
Allen: Vargas's swordplay wasn't so dull.
Van: You knew Vargas...?
Allen: Of course. He was one of the three greatest swordsmen of Gaea.
//Escaflowne blocks another swing.
Allen: Vargas was my master in swordsmanship.
//He punches Escaflowne's energist, knocking it to it's knees. He swipes from above and is
blocked.
Gadeth: He blocked again.
Allen: However...
//Scherazade knocks Escaflowne to the ground.
Van: Damn it!
//He points the sword at Escaflowne's head.
Allen: It's over. Come out of the Guymelef.
//The cockpit opens and Van comes out.
Van: Vargas... I lost.
//Allen's cockpit opens. He notices a scratch on the Guymelef's arm.
Allen: That's... When did he...?
//Hitomi walks up to Escaflowne.
Hitomi: Van...?
//Escaflowne's energist glows.
Van: Hitomi?
Hitomi: Allen, run! The invisible enemy's...
//The fort blows up behind her.
