The Medical Rearch Council of Canada -- MRC is the major federal agency responsible for funding biomedical
health research in Canada. Its role is to promote, assist and undertake
basic, applied and clinical research in Canada in the health sciences.
The Gairdner Foundation -- The Gairdner Foundation is a non-profit corporation devoted to the
recognition of outstanding achievement in biomedical research worldwide.
The Foundation is not affiliated with any government or private
enterprise and accepts direction only from its own independent Medical
Advisory Board.
Canada Foundation for Innovation -- The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) is an independent
corporation established by the federal government to strengthen Canadian
capability for research. The CFI will achieve this objective by
committing funds over the next five years in the development of research
infrastructure in Canada.
The Coalition for Biomedical and Health Research (CBHR) -- Created in the fall of 1992, the Coalition for Biomedical and Health
Research (CBHR), a non-profit corporation, works to ensure Canada's
continued support of a globally competitive research community. By
representing scientists, researchers and health care specialists to the
federal and provincial governments, funding agencies, the media and the
general public, CBHR provides a strong voice for increasing Canadian
biomedical and health research funding.
