PREPARATION LETTER FOR INTERVIEW FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE

I hope that the following will assists you in preparing for your interview for permanent residence.

If you require a translator for your interview, kindly contact the writer to discuss the details of same. Please be advised that you are not allowed to use a family member for translating at your interview.

Upon your arrival at the Canadian Embassy/Consulate, you are to present your original letter of invitation. Please ensure that you have all of the requested documents in your letter of invitation organized in a folder or binder in the same order that the Embassy/Consulate has requested This saves time and assists in a very organized interview.

It is necessary for both spouses to attend the interview. Please be advised that children under the age of 19 are not required to attend with you to the interview. The Consul ate requires original passports and birth certificates of the parties on your Application for Permanent Residence who are not attending at the interview.

Below are some sample questions and answers that you might be asked at your interview Please do not memorize the answers. These answers are only to be used as a guide and you should only use them as a reference. You are to answer all questions truthfully and concisely.

Question: why do you want to immigrate to Canada?

Answer: I wish to immigrate to Canada for a better future for my family and myself. Canada is a politically safe and stable country and I feel that my family and I will do very well in Canada. We have family in Canada and we would like to be reunited (if applicable) . I feel that I have good career opportunities in Canada and I feel that I will do well in Canada.

Question: what is your present and intended occupation? What are your job responsibilities?

Answer: This is a very important question and your answers should be the same as your Application for permanent Residence form. Please contact the writer to discuss this question.

Question How much money will you be bringing to Canada?

Answer: Please have bank statements available to confirm the amount of money that you have. In addition, please have appraisals done for your real estate holdings. (You should also discuss this matter with the writer)

Question: where will you live in Canada?

Answer: Please answer the same as on your Application for Permanent Residence form unless your plans have changed. If so, please advise the writer of your plans.

Question: when would you like to go to Canada?

Answer: I/We would like to go to Canada as soon as possible.

Question: Have you been to Canada?

Answer: If you have been to Canada, please then state where and when. If not, then state that you will visit Canada as soon as possible.

You will also be asked detailed questions about your business, proposed business plans in Canada and details of your assets. I suggest that all parties attempt to visit Canada before the interview in order to do some research into the Canadian economy and business environment I will also set up appointments for you at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. They are an excellent source of free information and will be a good starting point for your research. You do not actually have to invest any money but you should be knowledgeable of Canadian business and investments. It is very important that the writer assists you in preparing in this regard.

Please dress as if you are attending a business meeting. I suggest that the men either wear a dark suit or dark dress pants with a shirt. Women should either wear a suit, plain dress or skirt with a plain top. It is important that you appear clean cut and neat. I suggest that the men have short hair and that they do not wear a lot of jewellery.

Always be pleasant to the interviewing officer. After your interview is over, kindly ask the interviewing officer for his/her name and if you have passed your interview. Also ask when your landing visas will be ready if it is not ready on the day of your interview.
