Shaolin Showdown Regional 2
Shaolin Showdown Regional 2 For those of you who missed out, SSR2 managed to attract a steady crowd, throughout the course of the event. Despite the Gay/Lesbian Philly Pride Fest,Mother's Day,and Marilyn Manson, Gamers from as far south as Maryland showed what they're made of in various genre's of video gaming. Suffice to say, the competition got pretty stiff, especially in the Street Fighter arcade division. Awe inspiring combinations and superb timing were the order of the day in the Tekken 3 roundup. Bushido Blade attracted steady interest in the late evening, replete with dishonorable brothers violating the code of the Bushido as they Cuisinarted&tm the competition. Tobal 2 was quite popular representing the new blood in console fighting, and Axel smashed the competition in Twisted Metal 2. The OSDJ cranked out the tunes, with people requesting certain songs be played as they competed(track 4 of Street Fighter:The Movie being quite popular) Central Park Media delivered a host of cells, alongside a sizable quantity of posters VHS box sets, and keychains by the gross.
Shaolin Showdown Regional
SSR was a rousing success(pictures will be up ASAP)and we had almost 50 people competing, and almost 100 attending. Next comes the even better, Shaolin Showdown Regional Part 2!At Katsucon3, with lessons learned, Old School will depart in March for the 6 hour drive down to VA Beach to attend Katsucon. We ran the tournament with Satan City Productions last year(now Anime Zero) and I think we all hope another harmonious merger can take place as we ran very smoothly last time. Come see us at Katsucon 3!(NOTE:I WILL SEE TO IT THE K3 REPORTS ARE HANDED IN A TIMELY FASHION; I'M AS SICK AS YOU ARE OF READING THESE DATED BLURBS...-S.Roman)
Otakon '96 could be called by some, organized chaos, as Cerebus was roped into the game show and no one could figure out the registration program that Ascii Express had written. All in all though,we have learned some valuable lessons. 1. Cerebus needs to hold a large class on how to use his program. 2. Cerebus is to not leave the showdown to embarras himself in game shows. 3. We need to have more people on hand for riot control.
Otakon also marked the first time OSP has been mentioned in the program of the con, thanks to Dave Asher for the mention
Katsucon marked the first fusion for a tournament, in this case with Satan City productions. The tournament went smoothly, and we actually had to ask people to leave because we were violating fire codes! The Bomberman tournament packed the house, and we had great enthusiasm for Toshinden 2, which was making it's first appearance at the con.
Coming soon,(SOMETIME THIS MILLENIUM)< Anime East 95, Otakon 95, and Anime East 94 reports
