Japanese Drama Trading Club Rules and Info

So what exactly is this JD Trading Club?

My JD Trading club will just be a club for those interested in trading Japanese Dramas. I'll add your name to the member list when you apply for membership. I'll then put a link to your page or, if you do not have page, I can put your list on my JD Trading Club section so that others can see what you've got. I would really love to have members from all over the United States as well as the world! =)

Do I have to pay fees to join the JD Trading Club?

Of course not! This JD Trading Club is for JD fans by a JD fan, me! I would feel guilty it I asked for money. All you need to join is an interest in trading Japanese dramas with fellow JD fans. There are a few regulations and rules...well, let's just call it "considerations" to abide by so that we may all get along. =)

What exactly are the rules and regulations for this club?

It's simple really. Here are some that I can think of at the moment. If you have any suggestions, comments, please feel free to e-mail me at Image of animated envelope opening and closing sashimix@juno.com.

Rules and Regulations

  1. Please do not rip people off!

  2. Please be considerate to other members.

  3. Please ask for a reasonanble amount of dramas / tapes unless the member you are trading with agrees to a larger amount. How much is reasonable? I'd say the amount of tapes for one drama (approximately 3-5 tapes) would be reasonable. How much is unreasonable? I'd say that anything higher than 10 tapes...of course, this is subject to other members' opinions. In the end, the member you are trading with will decide what amount is reasonable and what is not.

  4. Please use 2 Hifi / Stereo VCR's to make dubs for trading. If you do not have 2 VCR's try to find someone in your area (a friend, another member) who is willing to make dubs for you. If you do not have anyone in your area who would be willing to make dubs for you please check out the section [Don't have access to 2 Hifi / Stereo VCR's?] for a possible solution to this problem.

  5. Regarding tapes used for dubs. I personally don't really see any difference between one brand and the other. There are people out there that say there is a difference in picture quality, tape life, etc. I am not one of those people. But please try to use TDK, Sony, JVC, Fuji, or some other name brand. I also use Polaroids to tape most of my dramas, but I do not use them for dubs because most people say they ruin VCRs and stuff...of course, I don't have a SHVS machine or anything like that so Polaroids, Sony V's, etc. do just fine for me.

  6. Please report any problem-trades to me. That is, if you sent someone tapes, but they never sent you anything and they never e-mailed you with a reason, please let me know. I will try to get in contact with them and ask them what the problem is. If they have a reasonable response, I will relay it to you. If they don't respond to my query, I will wait a week and then send another query. After 2 weeks, I will automatically add them to the Bad Traders List. If, for some reason, they could not check their e-mail and I already put them on the "Bad Traders List", I will remove them from it ...that is, of course, if they have a reason for the delay in shipping your tapes.

  7. [Your suggestions here]?

How do I apply for membership?

That's easy, all you have to do is e-mail at Image of animated envelope opening and closing sashimix@juno.com and provide the following information:

  1. Please put "[Join] JD Trading Club": as the subject.
  2. In the body of the message, please give me your name.
  3. Include a list of dramas you have (subbed and unsubbed) so that I can list it in the JD Trading Club member section.

    - OR -

Include an URL for your list if you have one on your page.

Don't have access to 2 Hifi / Stereo VCR's?

No problem, we will also offer assistance for those who do not have access to 2 good Hifi / Stereo VCRs. I have a friend who is willing to make copies for those who do not have 2 Hifi VCRs...such as myself. She is very reliable and trustworthy. More details will be given when there are members who need assistance. If you DO need assistance, please feel free to e-mail me.

What about people who rip others off?

It is sad to know that there are those out there who rip other people off just to get what they want. The only way I can offer a little help would be to validate members of my JD Trading Club on a trial basis. If I get more than 2-3 complaints (i.e. John Doe traded with Jane Doe and John sent his dramas to Jane, but Jane didn't send John his tapes. In this case, Jane Doe will have one strike) the offending member will have her name listed in a section that warns other members NOT to trade with them. Of course, this is subject to exceptions (i.e. Jane couldn't send her tapes because of money problems, etc.).

(I'm not really sure about validating members...I think I'll save that option for when we run into problems.)

Okay, so we know who the members are and what they have, but how do members get dramas from other members?

Simple, you look through the JD Trading Club member section and find a drama that you would like to trade for. There will be a link to e-mail that member. In the e-mail please put the following to make the process as effecient as possible:

  1. In the subject header, please put "[JD Trading Club] Trade"
  2. In the main body give your name, e-mail address, list of dramas you wish to get from that member.

Now you have to wait for that member to get back to you via e-mail. After you get in contact with that person, you need to work out a trade with them.
