Chapter 2--Unlocking Secrets

“I don’t know, there’s just something about that Enkai character that just doesn’t seem... natural..” Hito said.

“Well I don’ t know what did it, but he opened up to me! I can hardly stop him from talking and asking all these weird questions!” Ama sighed. He and Hito were chatting in the crowded halls between classes. They had another 3 minutes before the next bell rang, so they took their time talking before their last class of the day.

“Ugh! He still gives me the creeps, but that Sabaku, boy is she something else!! It’s amazing we have the same schedule!!” Hito gave a dreamy sigh. “Oh great, here come’s tall, dark, and gruesome now.” Enkai came up behind Ama.

“Time for our next class soon, let’s go.” he said, then gave a death glare Hito’s way.

“Well... er... I should go too.. Ja!” Hito booked it down the hall amongst the flood of students.

Hito sat there drawing studiously in Biology class when he heard a soft bleeping. He looked around to find no one else had heard the sound. He examined the floor, and realized it was the key. He had attatched it to a string of black leather through a small hole at the base of the gem and put it on last night. The small blue gem was blinking faintly and emitting the soft bleeping sound. Hito eyed around nervously and stuffed it under his shirt. He raised his hand to be excused to the bathroom, and grabbed his backpack and books.

In the hall, Hito took a better examination at the key. His hard concentration was shattered as he heard a muffled scream. He looked around and saw the door to the courtyard closing. Curiously, he edged to it and slowly cracked the door open. There, in the middle of the courtyard, a young man in dark blue was floating about thee feet above the ground, and directing a midnight colored beam of energy at the poor student’s forehead. He gave a disgusted sigh and released his hold. The student fell to the ground, writhing in agony. It’s body twisted horribly and the body reformed into a hideous hawk-like creature.

Hito gave a sharp gasp and closed the door swiftly. He gave a loud gulp as adrenaline surged through his body.

“Hito..” Hito’s head snapped around, looking for the source of the voice. “Hito.. it’s the key talking..” Hito stared in astonishment at his key. A small pair of blue eyes had formed in the depths of the gem.

“Who... WHAT are you?!” Hito gasped.

“Call me Gin. Now, that poor student, the school, the entire world needs your help! You are the chosen.”

“What?! Chosen for WHAT?”

“You are a guardian of the earth, the Heishi Fenikkusu! There is really no time for explanations now! Not hold up the key and shout ‘Gin Fenikkusu Hensei!’” Hito was trembling now. What on earth was this key talking about?! What’s a Heishi Fenikkusu?! Reluctantly, he did as he was told.

“Gin Fenikkusu HENSEI!” “I don’t know, there’s just something about that Enkai character that just doesn’t seem... natural..” Hito said.
