Thursday - July 3, 1997:
On thursday morning, our ship arrived at the island of Grenada. In the background of the second picture, you can see a small gray cloud which is a different color than the two large dark clouds. That patch of cloud is actually a dust cloud from an active volcano on the other side of the island began erupting the day we were there.
The ship actually did not port at the island, it merely dropped anchor about 2 to 3 miles offshore. The only way to get to the island was to take a ferry which was like a taxi to the people of Grenada. We decided to take a tour on the "Rum Runner" which took us on a sight seeing tour of the tropical coral reef before taking us to a white sand beach. On the Rum Runner, we were served soda, juice, and of course, rum. The beach was beautiful and the water was so clear that it looked like a swimming pool.
