Pelincah Lidah
In English these are called TONGUE TWISTERS,
and
in some other languages the equivalent of "tongue breakers."
I know of no proper Indonesian term for
them, and in fact few people
whom I have asked seem to know more than the first one listed below.
For this reason, and until someone sends
me a more formal or well-
known term for these, I shall use the term Pelincah Lidah because
it is accurate in its description and because it sounds so nice.
Cobalah dibacakan dengan suara penuh dan
lekas,
apakah menghancurkan lidah, memilinkan lidah,
atau malah melincahkan lidah?
The translations to English are liberal
(and not literal) to make them as colloquial
as possible. Nonetheless they quite accurately convey the meaning.

Are there words on the minds of the town's leaders?

Have the horse leg-ribbons arrived at Mika's store in our town?
Gara-gara lupa bawa palu, mula-mula Mia pula malu.
Just because she forgot to bring a hammer, at first Mia was also ashamed.

How come those ants keep smiling and shaking hands
with those ants willing to smile and shake hands with them.

The shops in our town were closed while we still opened
ours.

My granfather's older brother's cockatoo knows your grandfather's older brother's cockatoo.

An old head can forget to pile up old coconuts in the
holds of two old ships.
Rika tarik-tarik rok Rina dan Rina tarik-tarik rok Rika.

Rika pulls Rina's skirt and so does Rina. Rika's skirt
gets torn, snd so does Rina's.

Read backwards the letters are the same.
