Police Story 2 begins where Police Story left off. Kevin Chan(Jackie) is demoted from detective to patrol officer. Kevin is constantly bothered by Koo and his gangsters, the gangsters also harass his girlfriend, May. Kevin and May's relationship is in deep trouble, May doesn't like it because Kevin never pays any attention to her. When Kevin was on duty he is stopped by some gangsters, Kevin threatens to put them in jail with Koo, but Koo is right next to them. Koo didn't have to go to jail because he was going to die in 3 months. Koo is mad at Kevin and wants revenge, and he wants Kevin dead. May moves in with her mother, when May and her mother were unpacking the gangsters drove up beside her and started to harass them. They threatened her and Kevin. The gangster eggs May on and she hits him, the gangster comes after her and pushes May and her mother. They leave and threaten her once more. May's mother calls Kevin and tells him what happened, she tells him they are probably at a cafe near by. Kevin goes to it and confronts the gangsters. They make fun of Kevin and a fight breaks out, it's very fast- paced, a short but powerful fight. Kevin is called in by the Superintendent and Inspector Wong, the superintendent yells at Kevin and calls him a show-off and how irresponsible he was. Kevin resigns from the force. Kevin tells May that he resigns and she is overjoyed. Kevin buys plane tickets for him and May to go on vacation for a while. After they leave a cop stops him and tells Kevin there is a bomb threat on the building. Kevin has the mall evacuated immediately. He is unsure if it is a hoax or not, but he evacuates the mall anyway. After the mall is evacuated the superintendent shows up and yells at Kevin, Kevin protests saying that the peoples safety comes first. Inspector Wong talks to Kevin about it, but the bomb explodes. Later the bombers call the negotiators, and they demand 10 million dollars or they will put a bigger bomb someplace. Meanwhile, Kevin and May are waiting on the plane when Kevin gets a message to get off the plane, he has May's plane ticket and promises he'll come back, he gets off the plane and meets Inspector Wong and the Superintendent waiting for him.(They want Kevin to come back to the force to help with the case) Kevin refuses at first but the Inspector and the super talk him into it. Kevin agrees, but then stops because May is on the plane, he goes to tell her but the plane had already taken off. Back at the police station he finds May waiting on a bench for him. She sees him and begins to scream at him. The argument ends up in the men's locker room. May says she is leaving him and storms out. Kevin chases her trying to explain, but May drives away on her motorcycle. Kevin waits for her for one day and finds her, he apologizes again and May tells him that she is leaving town. Soon when they are walking a gangster confronts them and points and gun at Kevin. He shoots it but Kevin ducks and ink goes squirting out at May. Kevin chases after the gangster and finds dozen of men waiting for him. He says that Koo ordered to have him badly beaten up, but not killed, and a fight breaks out. This has to be one of Chan's greatest fights, with Kevin dodging metal pipes and bouncing around a playground punching and kicking and flipping as fast as possible. When the fight ends he goes to see May, May is very disappointed that she could have been killed. A bomber suspect calls again, and it is traced but a policeman stops him, but he gets away. The police get a tip call explaining a man named Crazy Horse who deals with the bombs and fireworks. Chan dresses up in disguise and goes to meet him. He says that he is looking for some bombs, so Crazy Horse goes to call his "contacts", some men come in that Crazy Horse called and they pick him up and try beat him, but Kevin gets away. When Crazy Horse and his girlfriend come home Kevin confronts them still in disguise and yells at Cray Horse for pulling the men on him. Crazy Horse says he will bring him to his bomb stash. When he is showing Kevin them he pulls out his gun and badge. He arrests him and brings him to the Police Station for questioning by some very tough women. He confesses after the women beat him up, he names a few buyers, but he says that a particular buyer bought a huge stash of bombs named Polar Bear, and he told him where he was located. Kevin and some more cops went to check the place out and waited until night to go inside the building where the suspects were. Chan went down to the basement of the building and he stumbled upon a fellow cop. They go to see if they can find anything and soon they see a man in a room, they told him to freeze and they tried to ask him questions. They found out that he was a mute, so they felt sorry for him and didn't handcuff him. The mute showed Kevin and the other cop his remote control cars and drove it around and crashed it into a wall, suprisingly it exploded and he kicked the other cop several times and got away. Soon after that, the bombers called again accusing the negotiators of going to the police, they said that the next day there was going to be a "suprise" at noon. He demands 20 million dollars. A couple of the terrorists went to Crazy Horse accusing him of telling the police about them, Crazy Horse protests, but the terrorists order him to do them a favor. The want him to place a few bombs around the police station, he agrees to do it, he had no choice. Meanwhile, some flowers and a package were delivered to a secretary. It was 5 minutes before noon. Kevin was given a message to go downstairs because May was there. He went to see May, she gave Kevin a letter, and left. Kevin didn't read it. It turns noon, and the bomb in the secretary's office explodes, at the same time the bombs around the police station were blown up, and the bomb Crazy Horse was about to put down blew up too. The people that the terrorists were ordering money decided to give the bombers the money. Meanwhile, May and her mother are talking when a van rolled up and a group of men pulled her inside. May's mother calls Kevin and tells him what happened, she suspects that Koo's men did it. Kevin rushes over to where Koo is being taken care of, he is dying. Kevin grabs the gangster and he says he doesn't know where May is so he should ask Koo where he put her. He rips off his oxygen mask and asks him where May is, he says he doesn't know. Kevin gets paged, and he dials the number, May answers in a weak voice and asks for help, then a terrorist talks and says to come to a certain building. He goes to it and gets knocked out by a man.Kevin wakes up to find he is tied up, he sees May close to him also tied up. The gangsters are going through Kevin's things and finds the letter May gave him, he still hadn't read it. The gangsters start to read it and May screams to stop. The gangsters carry on reading, it was a letter explaining that she was leaving Kevin because he never pays attention to her and that his job is more important than her. When they are done reading they tell Kevin that he has to do them a favor, they order him to get the money for the terrorists from the police station and bring it back. Kevin refuses so they start to torture Kevin by throwing small explosives at him, he still refused, so they started to throw them at May. Kevin gives up and says he'll help them. So the bombers untie him and strap a bomb on him, if any of the wires broke, the bomb would go off. So Kevin does what they said and goes to the police station while the kidnappers wait. He runs and pushes his way into the police station and finds the superintendent and Inspector Wong, he asks where the money is. He finds it himself and grabs it. He tries to explain to them that a bomb is strapped on us and it could blow any minute. He then runs to his car and signals to the kidnappers that the police are following him(which they aren't) and he drives into a tunnel where the detonator wouldn't reach. He frantically evacuated the tunnel, and begins to try to slip out of the jacket. He first clips the wire around his neck and waist. He then takes wire from the car and attaches it to the wires connected to the bomb to extend it giving him enough room to slip out of it. He then runs as fast as he can out of the tunnel and heads to where they were holding May. To get across the street to the building, he jumped onto a truck, and then onto a double-decker bus going the opposite direction, and jumped through the window. He finds one man there and asks him where May went. The man tells him, and Kevin heads to an old building where May is being held. Kevin finds May and unties her. The bombers find him, Kevin tells them they are under arrest, but they resist. A fight breaks out and May runs, a few men go after May and some stay to fight Kevin. Gabby, the mute, is the best fighter there, but he cheats by throwing explosive bombs at Kevin later on. Kevin aggressively goes after the men and dodges barrels and bombs. Kevin catches up to May and orders her to slide down a plastic tube going out of the building, she does what he says and Kevin follows. When Kevin is in the tube about 5 feet Gabby throws a bomb down after him, Kevin stops himself and the bomb explodes just beneath him. The tube is on fire so Kevin swings to a lower part of the building. Exhausted, Kevin begins to fight again. This is not the typical Chan fight, it's more aggressive than most others. The ending wasn't exactly heroic either. Gabby starts to throw the explosive bombs at him making Kevin turn on fire. Kevin then grabs some bombs himself and throws them at Gabby, imitating him. Gabby starts to beg Kevin to stop, while he is on fire. Kevin takes a fire extinguisher and puts out the flames. Gabby immediately gets up but before he could do much Kevin gets him in a leg lock and throws him over a railing. At that very moment the firecrackers and bombs go off, Kevin rushes out and meets May. (May got hurt during the fight and needed stitches, so for a while a double was used. See how they only show far shots and shots of the back of May's head.) The movie ends in a show of fireworks.
This movie was good, but not as good as the first "Police Story" this movie had great fights and great action and stunts. The ending could have been better however. Don't get me wrong I love the movie. So I give this movie 8.5/10
